Synchrony CLI Decline

I opened a Ashley Furniture store card back in December and received a SL of $2500. After 6 months, I requested a CLI and was denied due to "inactivity on the account".  Seeing that response is a first for me. I haven't used the card because I don't have a high enough limit for the items I wanted to buy at 0%.  Oh well. I guess if I want to grow it, I just need to use what I have.

A furniture account is a bit different.  Synchrony has no way of knowing how much you want to spend when you apply for the account.  When you open one to buy furniture or appliances etc.  if the limit offered isn't enough you have the store rep call for recon right then stating the intended purchase amount.  If your credit is good they typically approve an increase right then.  I did this with Macy's when I bought a large sectional sofa on sale.  The starting line was $1500.  We called for recon and I got on the phone with the rep and she offered $500 more than the final cost of the sofa.  I took it.  By not using the card for 6 months you told them you don't really need the account at all.  Buy one piece you want and show them you need it.  Make a payment or 2 then call for a CLI.
