TU 665 EX 649 EQ 639

Hi. I was wondering should I wait until my scores over 700 or I can start applying for credit cards before I garden?
I have Uber visa and Discover secured cards. I don’t really need credit cards but really really want some prime cards like Amex or Chase just to have them in my wallet.

You can apply and may be approved but, you might not like the CL you get.

Amex would be the easier of the 2 to get approved for since Chase is a bit finicky about thin profiles and lack of age.

Thank you. That is one of my thoughts. I guess I will wait for the magic 720 score.

I’ll play Devil’s Advocate here. If you get an Amex and THEN head to the garden, that Amex will grow fast. Check those prequals.
Discover It: 26.5k
Amex Cash Magnet: 24.4k
Fidelity Visa: 21.5k
Apple Card: 13k
CapOne Venture X: 10k

@ericguest,

Citi and BB&T has a pre-approval/pre-qualification site which is a soft pull so if either of those prime cards are of interest, than it’s no risk to find out.

Good luck

No need to wait til 720, 680 plus you will start seeing good results. At the end of the day scores arent everything. Lenders take into account your income, credit usage, prior history etc.

I check BB&T and they don’t have CA listed. I guess I have to wait for them couple more years.
