Re: Target CLI question ...

I've had my Target RedCard since 2011, and I started with a $3k limit which has slooooooowly grow to $4.6k. I've never had an offer for conversion extended, and no large CLI's. I've run thousands through the card some months (highest posted bill was ~$2500), but my typical monthly spend is probably in the $200-300 range. I just ignore that and use the card for the 5% discount - that's the only reason I got/have the card and I wouldn't give that up even if it required mutiple payments per month to fully utilize the card.

I've tried that, but it hasn't budged. I think current is about 2x what it was when I was approved and still nothing. It's fine, what I have is sufficient as long as I pay it every two weeks when I get paid, otherwise the utilization would be icky.

Re: Target CLI question ...

My Target card was upgraded many years ago when it was Target National Bank, I went from a red card to the red Mastercard with a CL of $9,000 . Since it has gone to TD Bank I have never received a CLI. I am fine with it where it sits but I did try to update income every now and then. But nothing. I still use the card monthly at Target for the discount.

What I do not understand is the fact that I have other TD Bank Visa cards. I have the new double card as well. They have issued me CLI's on the TD cards but never any amount that is worth doing a HP over. I also have a checking and savings account at TD Bank. They do not treat the Target cards the same way they treat their own TD Visa cards, with the TD Visa cards you can call in for a CLI, so what can I say?

Thanks

Mark

Re: Target CLI question ...

Earlier in this thread I wrote that I have an 8k CL but today it got randomly increased to $8,500. As stated earlier I keep it open because of the large CL and it being my oldest open card (my 1st credit card was a bucketed cap 1 that I closes since I was tired of dealing with cap 1s games). Otherwise I would advise people to get the red card debit card instead to get that same 5% discount without having to do an HP and get hit with a new account. Only advantage the credit card has over the debit card is that you can carry a balance. I have the mastercard version but the rewards for spending not at target aren't great so I only use it at target.

No need in punishing yourself. 👎

Use it to your benefit and benefit from it's 2 year history and then some.

It still has way more potential than the beloved Kohl's card that will never convert to a cc or go over a $3k(?) limit.  So just use it to your advantage, enjoy the 5% discount, update income periodically and benefit from an aging acct. that has some "potential".…........in the future.🤷

Hey some potential is better than none, right?!? 👍 ....and you love Target. One day, just one day.....be hopeful.

Re: Target CLI question ...

I got my target card in September 2020 and use frequently and still stuck at 300. I called a few days ago to close it but the rep said she could put in a request for a limit increase. No increase yet I'll give it till end of week if not I'll close it. Good luck on yours hope you get it increased.
