This post was perfect. Forgot about this trick for several months after applying for the Amex BCE. I'm a 19 year old with ~40K in income, and have had a frustratingly hard time rising above 2.5K credit limits. Amex approved me July 3rd for 4K, which was amazing, but the 5K limit was still my goal to overcome (for Visa Signatures, looking good when other creditors view my profile, etc.) Used this trick 3 months after applying, and went from 4K to 12K! So happy, this card has pushed me from the 2.5K "kiddie" cards to the 10K+ range! Love the feeling of finally being trusted by a bank!

I asked for my 61 day cli and got the 7-10 message. My score is 700 and my utilization is 5%. I asked for a 5k to 15k on my bce. I also have a bce with 2k limit and gold card with them what did I do wrong and what can I do now?

Maybe you got CLI alreay within last 180 days?? One CLI every 181 days per, I would say, head.

No that wouldn't be it. I just got the card 62 days ago so it was my first time asking for a cli ever with amex. My income is 72k to add on and I have 20k in available credit

I'm a member of the no CLI club with AMEX. Tried at 61 days and then 90 days and then again (they actually let me without the usual letter that I was denied within last 90 days). Doesn't apply to everyone. Just keep doing you and eventually you will be rewarded. As a side, while they have not given me a CLI all this time, they did approve a 2nd revolver at 2K...

You are not alone elktech. Ive had my AMEX for 12 months. $500 limit. Denial every time i ask. My 773 i guess doesnt matter to them. It will be closed

My first revolver is BCE at 10K. EDP is at 2K but it was my second card. Is that 773 from the FICO AMEX provides or from CK/WH or some other vantage scoring system? If so if I were you I would apply for another revolver with them. Hopefully it will be a soft pull as you an existing a card member. I would bet that new card will get a signifcant higher CL than your current $500 card.
