@Anonymous wrote:My 6th month from my last CLI came and went. I requested to go from $30K to $36.3. My plan was to reallocate that 6.3K to my BCE to make it an even $10k. I got hit up for Income Verification. I almost backed out and went for $35K thinking it would be go through easy peasy. But I decided to take a chance and just go bigger and asked for $45K. I didn't really feel like asking 5K every 6 months to avoid it IV. I didn't go for higher since my highest CL on any one card with any creditor is 44K. I submitted the 4506-T information on Sept 8th and am still waiting to hear a decision.
I currently have with AMEX:
30K EveryDay Card
3.3K Blue Cash Everyday
10K Gold Delta Skymiles Business
Just a reminder that it took me well over a year to get my a CLI with them. So I was happy to not get an instant decline after they finally approved my the much talked about 3X CLI on the Everyday that took it from 10K to 30K.
I'll update as it may help others who decide to go this route. I looked for posts for others who went through this and almost everyone just backed down until it didn't require it. I may end up with 5K after all or nothing at all. Who knows!
If this is approved, I''ll ask for one more CLI in 6 months to get it to 50K and call it good.
Apparently I filled it out wrong the first time so a week later I had to redo it. It's worded weird where it says name in part of the address field so I wrote my name along with my address...I went back online to /verifyincome and resubmitted. Today, I get a letter from AMEX that it was denied due to "insufficient income". I took it well considering the amount of credit they have given me so far.
But then I wondered if I still could get a CLI. I also checked my pre-approvals and I was still pre-approved for every card (SPG is looking really good to me) I went for a CLI on my BCE which was at 3.3K. Asked for 3X fully expecting an instant denial, but I was asked for IV. I backed up and asked for a 5K cli and that was instantly approved. My thinking was I would have gotten an instant CLI on my original request had I backed it down to a 5K increase which turns out to be correct.
So apparently, this did not reset me to waiting 90 days following a denial of a CLI request. But I could not get a full 3X CLI which tells me I'm at my max with AMEX for now. It's also weird to me that AMEX didn't counter with that 5K and flat out denied me. In 6 months, I'll ask for 5K and save me 2-3 weeks . Hope this helps anyone else considering providing income verification and to still go for a CLI if you are turned down!
I had an SL of $10k on a BCE. I considered asking for $30k, but ended up asking for $25k. I thought $30k might be pushing it given my income.
They gave me the $25k instantly, so maybe I should have asked for more!
You should have, but it is what it is. Many people on this forum and in this thread have gone from a $10k SL to $30k via 3X CLI. I am one of them. My progression has been $10k --> $30k --> $35k --> $40k --> $45k --> $50k. All of that has been without providing IV.
For your next CLI, I'd suggest starting at $45k, which isn't likely but possible based on a recently provided data point. After that I'd suggest $40k, $35k, $34.5k and then back down in $500 increments en route to an instant non-IV approval.
Funny you stopped around 35k. I seem to be stuck there. Is that some threshold?
Also I called and got someone in India who said it was declined. I guess im SOL?
Many people in this thread have reported $35k being the first point at which IV is prompted.
received my email for their "graduation" credit steps. opened my BCE back in April with a $500 limit and just received the email today that i received an auto CLI bringing it upto $1k.
I opened up a Delta Gold a week with a $1k SL and tried to go for 3x CLI on that June 27. THey countered and I took a $1k increase bringing my total to $2k.
Opened up the SPG in August and am eligible for a CLI on that and my BCE at the moment after confirming on chat.
Im thinking i should be pretty well accecpted for the 3x CLI if I go for it since the BCE didnt reset anything and my Amex score is sitting at 676 after opening more cards
So, I tried the 3X on my Hilton Honors card. The SL was $5000 and I went for $15000. It's been past the 180 days. I received the 7-10 days message that I'd receive it in writing. Should I request again for a lower amount? Thoughts?

If you got a CLI on June 27 then you will need to wait until December 27 at minimum before requesting another CLI on any of your cards. The reason is that Amex considers all your credit cards as one account and their hard rule is one CLI every 180 days. If I were in your shoes I'd wait until early January; that way your credit score should have gained a few points for aging another month in December.

The 7-10 days message is a denial. If you were denied for a credit related reason you need to wait 90 days from the date of denial before requesting another CLI. If the denial is for a non-credit related reason the wait is 30 days from the date of denial. If you submit another request - even for a lower amount - it will be automatically rejected by Amex's computers.
