I applied a new AMEX on 6/3/14, got $2000 CL.
On 6/10/14 I requested CLI on an old AMEX card, and same day transferred CL to the new AMEX card. Old AMEX's CL is $1500 and new AMEX's CL is $11K.
Now it has been >180 days since 6/10/2014, and have high balance on the new AMEX card (~$9000):
1. shall I ask CLI on the old AMEX(CL now 1500) or the new AMEX (CLI now 11K)?
2. If I ask for CLI for the new AMEX, 3X should be the $6000 (based on initial CL) or $33K (based on CL after CL transferred)?
3. Shall I pay off some balance before making a request? Now I have about $9K balance, with CLI of 11K. This is a key question
Thank you very much!
You have 0% what? Sorry, I think I'm missing something in your post.

I tend to agree about the statement cutting! My last statement had a balance of $519 but I paid down any balance shortly after and actually have a credit of $97 as I just got a statement credit for spending x amount within 3 months.
I initially asked for $30k and got the 7-10 day message. I chatted with someone who was no help, and talked to a rep who said I could call the credit dept. tomorrow (Monday) or she could try the CLI button for me again (my request). While I wanted to know the reason, I also wanted the increase before any time passed. So I went back online and resubmited the increase and asked for 25 instead of 30 and voila! Super happy. I think I could have gotten the 30 if I talked to a the credit dept. One person I talked to mentioned they may just need income verification Iwhich I was willing to complete even if the form was required), but I didn't want to wait. One of the reps also said there was no internal limit on multiple cards (fwiw).

Super thankful for the myFico Forum! I read this thread from beginning to end before actually applying. It took me 2 days, but I wanted to be well informed. Going to apply for the EDC cli when eligible.. 181 days.. yay!
********So I got the denial letter from the first cli request. They asked for the tax form. I'm glad I just resubmitted the request for 25k instead of 30k.

Congrats on the 3X CLI!
Hey Everyone. Never posted here before, but have been following this thread since I got my first amex card and I wanted to share this with you all. I have only had my BCE since October 20th, 2014 (53 days ago). I just called to inquire about a $100 credit on my statement. Before hanging up I asked her to check when I could request a CLI. She informed me that you had to be a member for at least 60 days, and then asked for the security codes on my card. After that she asked if I would like to apply for a CLI. I told her that it hasn' t been 60 days though. I couldn't believe what I was hearing when she said its close enough. I have been DYING to get to 61 days which is next Saturday, December 20th, just for this! So I went ahead asked for $15,000. She said laughingly "Wow, thats a big chunk of change!" and less then 10 seconds she said I was approved! I can't believe it.
I was actually quite surprised to get the increase, because I just re-financed my car, and after the loan was paid off all 3 of my FICO scored dropped about 18 points.

You would ask for the $33k (presuming you understand that by going past $25k you are most likely going to have to provide income verification / IRS form 4506-T to complete that).
Once your CL are set, and the 6-months time period has passed, that is your new baseline CL to consider for the 3x CLI request.
You can still do a CLI request on the old card, from $1,500 to $4,500 if you want, but then it will be another 6-month wait before either card can be requested again.
Good luck!
