Really thin file. Trying to figure out who to start out with that wouldn't reject me out of hand. Two AU accounts that are under a year old. So no real history to speak of. No cards of my own. EQ- 663, EX-706, TU-724 Here is the gut puncher.... all 3 reports have a few tax liens that are a few years old (and EQ has one CA reporting for about $200). The liens should be taken care of in under 2 years but I would like to have started a relationship with a lender or two and start building my credit.
So with these public records, thin file and those scores what would be a decent recommendation? I am sure Cap One is on the list...... but any others that aren't averse to imperfect thin files?
TIA
Welcome to the board. Since you don't have any cards of your own, start with BOA secured if you are not opposed to secured cards. And then Cap One also. With your file, you don't have alot to pick from starting out unless of course, you have a lender / card in mind that you want.
Is there a card you have your eye on?
Debating about Capital One platinum and maybe Barclay rewards.
I had also debated about a regular BofA card (not secured) to see if it was possible. But I did burn them about 20 years ago. Thanks for the welcome as well!

These cards are not that difficult to get. How much did you burn BOA for 20 years ago?

Welcome to the forum
Are these tax liens state or federal?
If federal and you're paying apply for the fresh start program
State liens can be more difficult with each state having different laws in place for removal and some just don't budge at all
I invite you to visit our (RYC) forum to seek help on all baddies
Not sure on the burn amount since it was 20 years ago. Probably under $1500?
One Federal and a couple state. Trying form 12277 but it may take a couple months, but the state ones may probably just stay on until they drop off in a number of years. I figured one or two decent starter cards to build on and grow with would be good. Hopefully the platinum could be Product Changed to a QS in the future. Although I would love to hear about any other cards to look at with forgiving approval processes like that one.
Even though you have the liens on your report, i would not be suprised if you would get approved for an amex bce or everyday card as your score easily supports these cards. Amex lately has been approving more people than avarage. MAybe due to losing the costco account? They seem to be ok with people that have thin files. I would deifinitely check it out. And you can go 2 for 1 and apply for a charge card at the same time. A solid company to start a relationship with. Soft pull cli's. Good customer service. Delta gold also seem to be one of their easiest cards to get approved for. Also, in the future when you apply for a better card with them, they will rely more on your past relation with them instead of heavily on your credit report.

Gotcha! The BCE looks decent. Any other thin file friendly cards other than cap one?
maybe discover it? *read more about them at the approvals thread though.
i recommended it to a coworker with very slim to no credit at all (immigrant). she got approved with 1.5k SL.
