Re: Thinking about Amazon cards (Chase and Sync)

Yes, it is nice that they have the same perks.

However, unless something  has changed, the max CL from Synchrony for the Amazon Store card = $10,000.   Many have > $30,000 from Chase on the Prime Card.

I prefer the Synchrony card. Works at Amazon and Whole Foods still, and I don't have a need to use the card outside of those ecosystems.

You'll end up with higher from Synchrony, don't have to deal with Chase 5/24, and won't take up a 5 lending card limit slot from Amex.

Re: Thinking about Amazon cards (Chase and Sync)

For those interested, the Chase SUB is to $200 while the Synchrony version SUB is $60 for the July Day 2024 prime days.

I'd also add....Chase had a pre-approval link through Amazon's site.  Not sure if that's still active...and Chase will (if necessary) allow you to reallocate credit lines between accounts after an approval has been given if that's important to you.  I don't believe SYNC does that....

There's an assortment of approvals for this card that were over 5/24 though I wouldn't say that's definitive and perhaps luck...but it's happened nonetheless...typically around Prime Days.  Explore the Approvals threads.

Lastly, there are plenty of posts of "SYNC giveth and taketh away" at their whim....so while a higher SL may be the case....you'll need to maintain it to keep it

Re: Thinking about Amazon cards (Chase and Sync)

I feel like I'm on a blacklist with Chase ever since I closed my Amazon card mid 1st year lol. Dumbest decision I did. This was back in the heyday, 16-18 , when we were collecting credit cards like they were Pokémon  lol. Thought it wouldn't grow, etc. Thrown a couple apps at Chase last couple years, no approvals, last was to see on a core card but dti I guessSmiley Wink. One time I was preapproved on the Amazon site, or at least prequaled  to say the least,  but was still denied. So sometimes being prequaled on the Amazon site doesn't equate to passing final inspection by Chase lol. This is one reason I'd caution anyone to close a card just because it doesn't meet the need in the moment.  That moment could change in the futureSmiley Wink

Re: Thinking about Amazon cards (Chase and Sync)

Not actually an amazon card, but usb shoppers card pays 6% for two stores you choose. I made Amazon one of mine. It does have a $1500/ quarter ceiling. I still like the chase card with $200 sub. I was on the chase $hit list about 15 years ago, and I'm 8/24, probably not going to apply.

I liked your idea.

FYI,

Amazon's Prime Day event is in July and to promote this, Chase has typically offered a SUB  ($150) for their Prime Visa.

I think Sync offers a SUB for the Store card version as well.

Thus, if you are on the fence, I'd hold-off a few weeks on applying  for this  promo...

Re: Thinking about Amazon cards (Chase and Sync)

As a supplemental notice, Amazon is doing  the Prime Days on Oct 8 - 9.
The SUB for these cards tend to be higher around these events.

Re: Thinking about Amazon cards (Chase and Sync)

I haven't had any issues with the Stinkrony Amazon and I've had it for what seems like forever, but the CLI's were always very stingy and it is maxed at $10k now.  If I didn't already have it I'd probably go with the Chase one, mostly because of Stinkrony's reputation for annoying practices.
