Thinking about applying for the Chase Freedom.

I already have the Chase Unlimited 16,000 SL and the Chase Sapphire Preffered 25,000 SL. Both were targeted and I ended up getting $300 for spending 500 on the unlimited and 60,000 PTs for spending 4000 on the SP but I want to take advantage of the 5% catergory and really be able to rack up the ultimate rewards points. The thing is I only had those 2 cards since 12/27/17. Is it too soon to apply for the Freedom? I was also approved for the US Bank Cash Plus (didnt receive yet), Uber Visa (15,000 SL) , and Capital One Quicksilver (30,000 SL) since those. I wanted all my cards to age together thats why the spree but I'm worried Chase may think I have too many new accounts.

Sounds like you're at the 5 new accounts in 24 months threshold. Probably a good idea to wait it out.

Would I have to wait 2 years?

Re: Thinking about applying for the Chase Freedom.

If you’ve opened 5 or more cards in the past 24 months you will probably be declined. The slots become available 2 years from the date that each card was opened. I’ve read that if you have a Chase account  you can get around 5/24 by going into a branch and asking a personal banker to check for Pre-Approved offers.

Re: Thinking about applying for the Chase Freedom.

As said above, it looks like you are at 5/24 unless one of those cards hasn't reported yet. I'd still give it a shot and apply anyway. If they decline your application, call and offer to move some of your limits from the other cards. You don't need much of a CL on the Freedom to maximize its 5% potential since it maxes out at $1,500 for a whole quarter. After that, you can use the other cards to continue to build up points.

IMO, the Freedom is only good for the bonus categories until maxed out. After that, there's little reason to use it if you have the other 2 cards earning higher rewards.

Re: Thinking about applying for the Chase Freedom.

As others have pointed out, you may over the theshold of the 5/24 rule that Chase has ( 5 cards over 24 months ). you may want to wait on getting another card from Chase right now, unless you can go into a branch and talk to a branch manager. If you can do that, they can check for pre-approvals and if this some type of resistance might be able to help push through it. If you go this route, ask about the CSR as it has better UR over the long haul than that of the Freedom card.

Cogratulations of your app spree and more importantly getting them approved.
