DW got her BoA CR card back in April with a $2500 SL, and we'd like to get a healthy CLI for it at some point. When's the earliest that she could put in a request online with hopes of success? I believe I read around here that 4 months in or after the 4th statement cut is the earliest opportunity... does my memory serve me correctly? Thanks.
6 months is enough time to show them usage on the card. But it is all up to you. If you can't wait, you can request it anytime.
If you can't wait for them to give one to you then you know it will be a HP right? I have had my card for over a year and have asked about CLIs and ben informed that if they do it no HP, but if you ask for it then it is an HP.
I only got it for the cash back bonus anyway, so not too concerned if they give a CLI. I ame an occasional purchase on it and then pay it off to simply keep it open. I think the last purchase I made was $2.32.

Yup, I'm aware of the HP. That's why I'm being cautious and asking whether BoA would even entertain the notion of granting a CLI request at the 4-month mark, so as to avoid burning an HP unnecessarily. The card has about a year remaining of 0% promo on purchases, and we'd like to put an upcoming home repair charge on it for a while. It'd be nice to have the CLI beforehand, so as not to kill the util % on that card.
When I had a boa cash rewards card, I found luck to happen at 6 months.
6 months for the best results as long as the profile supports what you are asking for.

You could get a Lowes card and they will give you 5% off and an interest free grace period for purchases over a certain amount.

How much is your home repair cost? If it is anything under $2,400 I'd charge it directly to the card on the 0% APR offer. Pay that down at a rapid clip, and you will likely see a CLI from BofA before too long.
Utilization? pffftt. You want to save interest cost, fund a ~$2,500 purchase and not incur a HP to get a CLI. Utilization (and the few points impact it will have) is a distant 5th place in this race. Use the full amount.
I took a BT onto my $12,700 CL BofA AMEX card last year, put $10,700 on it on a 0% offer, then started paying it down fairly rapidly . Within a month it was down to $8k, now at about $5k. Earlier this year they gave me a $3k auto CLI so the card now has a CL of $15,700.
I called in for my cli at 2 months.
travel rewards went from $2k to $15k
bbr went from $10k to $12k same HP
then moved $5k from BBR to travel to make $20k
no problems at all...
I will try the luv button next time instead of calling in.
