To apply or not apply for VS

So I have a dilemma... I been trying VS sct before and it never worked. Well I tried it today and it finally shows up!!! I been wanting to have VS because it will be more useful to me than Express. But I am in the garden for almost a month now. I want to garden until December so I can go to mini app spree and apply for Barclay Rewards card, discover it, freedom and Sally card. But I am still thrilled that it finally shows up for me. So my question, should I apply for it??? I don't want to decrease my chances of getting those cards that I mentioned.

Here is my stats:
Utilization 17% due to Cap1 QS1
Last apped is 05/27
First Progress - 0% balance reporting (I have it since Feb)
Cap1 QS - $197 balance reporting
Cap1 Plat - not yet reporting
Express Next - not yet reporting
Income: 46K
Auto loan (opened 09/2014) - current, one 30 day late on December 2014
Student loan (10/2010) - deferred, one 90 day late on June 2014
My scores are below. Please help me out.

Re: To apply or not apply for VS

Had VS for 6 months and never got a CLI.  Closed it this month.  SL was $350 and stayed there.  Have gotten increases from Overstock and JCrew.  Benefits weren't all that great.  Like your choice of cards to apply for in the future.  When I got it my EQ was 633 and EX 659.  Closed it because I couldn't really buy anything without my UTI going over 30%.

Re: To apply or not apply for VS

That's what I'm afraid of. It shows that I am preapproved for $350 only. I don't want to apply if it decrease my chances to get cc that are more important. But I applied for VS a month ago and took a hard pull but I was denied. So now my scores are getting up, I have more confidence that I might get approved for better cards. Btw, I want to apply for Wal-Mart card... Not Sally Mae. Lol

Re: To apply or not apply for VS

I traded it in for the Apple Rewards card.  It gave me a SL of $2000 and from reading the forum, I know it can grow or can be PCd.  Don't get me wrong, I love VS, but I couldn't carry a balance because it dinged my score, but Comenity wants you to carry a balance to generate a statement, so in the end, it just wasn't worth it.

VS will GROW with you via the luv button.  Alot of people on here have seen it grown significantly.  If you really want it, go for it and then click the luv button every month.

Re: To apply or not apply for VS

It has grown for others, but didn't grow for me.  The cards that the luv button worked for me were JCrew and Overstock.  Can't say if it will hurt your chances.  I only know that I got the secured Discover before I applied for the Apple Rewards.  Same day I got the Apple Rewards, I got Sam's Club and ED.  Now I'm behaving myself for 6 months because I want to shoot for the Rewards MC and BCE.  Guess you'll have to decide if the card is worth it.  Good luck whatever you decide.

Go for the ones you really want such as Barclays before VS.  Barclays tends to be new account and inquiry sensitive.

Don't bother with store cards if you seriously want those major ones
