Hello! I have a question on how i can maxmize my chances at a higher starting limit for my next CC.
My situation is this: I have 2 Cap one cards, and 2 chase cards. I really only use my sapphire and my quicksilver. I've contact both chase and cap one and have decided to combine cards and close out my venture and my freedom.
My limit on my quicksilver after combining accts will be 29k, and my limit on my sapphire will be 15k. I also have a discover at 8900.
I'm considering applying for a credit union card. Should i wait until i combine accts and let them show that i have a limit of 29k and 15k, or should i just apply now? Currently my venture sits at 18k and my sapphire sits at 9k. (also any recommendations on the best credit unions to try for with higher starting limits? my scores are around 730 across the board - 90k income)
Thanks in advance for any tips!
Just thought I'd add - I'm considering NASA FCU as my next app.

Why do u need the big limit card? do you want any perks or anything???
You know you could attempt a nasa app for five bucks and 2 experian soft pulls (99% of the time)... i was approved for a 20k limit card and 10.9% apr but they AAd me after approval due to too many new accounts.
If you have proof of all of your income, then I would 100% go for the NASA. Penfed is also awesome. I like the penfed promise as its a low apr, no BT or cash advance fees.
If its low APR that u want, the barclay ring would probably get you a 10k limit....
But if its just huge limits...maybe go to your local credit union? Theres a ton of good ones on here. Navy federal if u have any family in military.... Tons of choices.... But I would question your motives and figure out exactly what it is before you apply.
Nasa u could also use the same inqs for a personal line of credit.
Ive considered some of my local CU's but ive been eyeing nasa for a while.
Update: i just decided to take my chances... appd and got approved for 25k. Pretty happy with that!
awesome. I want to see if others can chime in and see if you could use those same inquiries and get a PLOC or something at the same time. That would be great.
That's an interesting thought, i didnt even consider that.
I'm researching it a bit and I'm curious - as i was just approved for 25k credit card.... do you think it would look bad to then inquire for a 25k PLOC (especially considering i have no real need for it, but could use it as i've recently started a sided business)? I don't want to raise any red flags even though i was instantly approved. I have everything to back up my income, but still would like to avoid anything that may look suspicious.
EDIT: Clearly I'm an anxious person. I app'd for the PLOC - got a review message and then 10 minutes later approved. It hasn't updated me with the amount though. I will comment back once they let me know the amount and %. Looks to have used the same pull on Experian.
I've heard good things from them as well. It sounds tempting to app for Penfed but i think it would look bad to open a large new acct, plus a ploc, and then try for another.
I should just stay content with what i got
EDIT: forgot to mention, Nasa did ask to verify my income. Not an issue but thought I'd add that to the discussion.

Yup they did me as well. What's cool about Penfed is. The HP for membership. Is the same pull they use to qualify you for all their products.
Yeah I said the same thing 6 months ago. lmao
