Applied for a Venture card and my letter (with no phone #) says frozen Equifax was why I was being turned down. Anyone have any luck getting a recon in a similar situation?
The letter noted my TU score was 670
This is fairly common knowledge that Cap1 primarily uses EQ on their approvals.. Some people get away with out it, but most don't. Probably just cost you 2 HP's being EXP/TU.. Can try to reach out to the EO and be willing to unfreeze EQ if they will reconsider your application since you already took two HP's.
I have played with jockeying that and it won't work. Now some better credit profiles might very well come away with only a pair of pulls but i can assure you for a fact they are an exception because certain profiles are solidly programmed by the system to access all 3 or you'll get nothing.
I since learned to open full access across all bureaus and not try to shortcut your way in some effort to try to preserve one of the pulls.
DH got away with a EQ/TU hit (twice) with all three thawed. I did once in February with EX iced.
It's obviously according to how acceptable each profile is whether by length of time with them plus score or whatever else they use.
I tried after reading such success and they will have nothing of it, it's all or nothing for some.
The rest of you are the lucky birds they'll require a pair of pulls only for approval.
Always a risk having one on ice especially EQ. Just not worth it for me personally to those two hp's to gain nothing if they want a 3rd cra
edit: I stink at typing more so tonight than usual

Agreed wholeheartily there CC. +1
Well, lesson learned. It may ultimately be for the best as I picked up a Discover IT card and that was really the card I wanted in the first place.
