Hi,
I was hoping someone here would be able to advise me on what SL to expect from UNFCU given my profile:
TCL: $200K (one 90K with Synchrony Lowe's)
Income: $400K (on W-2)
Credit score: 800+ on all three bureaus
I'm hoping to get a high limit travel card with a high starting limit and ideally with a balance transfer / cash advance perk. I was considering applying for the UNFCU Elite or the First Tech Odyssey, but I hear First Tech is getting stingy with credit apps when people have large TCLs. So, that's why I'm considering not going with First Tech. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum.
I'm not really knowledgeable about it but I think you're better off with the First Tech Odyssey. Haven't heard many good words about UNFCU.
Agree 💯..First Tech. I was more than 2x income in TCL when I got my odyssey.
The mininum SL for the UNFCU Elite is $15K. Unless they've massively revamped their approval process it takes about 1-2 weeks from application to approval and I've known of actual starting limits of over $50K.
UNFCU isn't exactly cutting-edge on the techonlogy front even when factoring in their being a CU.
First Tech has been factored in existing TCL for a while but $200K isn't way out of line either so I don't think that would deter me from applying if the card was going to be a good fit.
They're absolutely awful. Avoid them at all costs.
You won't even be eligible for a lending product until after a year of membership.

UNFCU used to advertise credit limits up to $100K on their Elite Visa ($50 AF) but I noticed recently they lowered the top CL to $50K on both the Elite and Azure. Further, the fine print notes that limits may be affected by total credit extended by UNFCU as well as many other variables including length of time as a member. So depending on what you define as a "high limit", you might get better results with First Tech where I believe credit limits up to $100K are still possible.
I also agree that, even though First Tech is sensitive to high TCL, $200K probably isn't excessive for them, especially relative to income.

Beyond the above, a few other cards that you might consider - if you're looking for high limit travel cards - are several that can start out at $25K to $35K and will grow in excess of $50K with good usage.
(*especially if willing to keep $100K+ with Merrill Lynch to qualify for Preferred Rewards/Platinum Honors.)
