I have come to the conclusion that I cannot evaluate my profile objectively. Sooo what do yall think?
I'm 90.53% sure I'm gonna app for the Chase Marriott as the bonus and yearly free night will be beneficial in 2016.
I'm 11.76% sure I wanna app for the Citi DC to try out their funky 2% cash back deal and see if it's beneficial to my spending. Although the freedom and CSP combo have been working well for me. Barclay cashforward is a 3.14159265359% possibility. Their $50 redemtion threshold doesn't bother me as I've got a couple hundred sitting on different cards awaiting purposeful redemption. ANYWAYS...let's talk approval odds.
Also, the Venture has been tempting but in reality I'm just romancing the idea of a possible high SL. 0.584% chance of apping
FICO 08: 700-712
2 paid baddies 5 yrs old
AAoA: 5yr 3mo (ish)
Inqs (6mo): 1-3
Util: 1%
Income: 1xx,xxx
Again, I'm mainly looking at apping for the Marriott. I'm conflicted because I'm trying to enjoy hitting the 700 club recently and don't wanna screw that up too bad.
As always, your input in appreciated!

UPDATE:
I just simultaneously apped for the Chase Marriott 80k offer and Citi Double Cash card:
Citi DC: Instant approved for $4,500.
Chase Marriott: Initial 7-10 day pending review message, 1 minute later email saying 30 days. App status line says 2 weeks. The suspense is brutal lol
I'm VERY surprised at the DC SL of 4.5k...didn't think I'd get approved instantly, maybe by recon. Online letter said EX was 703, guessing it was an internal score?? Range was 250-900
Will update when I find out about the Marriottt

The Marriott Rewards card shouldn't be a problem. Last week I applied for three Chase cards with the following results: Instant approval on CSP, "two weeks" message on Marriott Rewards, and denial of Freedom card due to "too many apps in 30 days". Called Chase recon and got a very courteous CSR who told me to call verification on Monday to get the Marriott card approved. I want that card for the same reasons you mentioned.
CSR said Chase frowns on more than two apps for their products (including co-branded cards) in 30 days, and suggested I call back 30 days after the denial to get the Freedom card approved. That way, he said, you can avoid another HP on your CR. Great thinking, thanks Chase!
I didn't know they would use the same pull. If only they were that lenient on cli ![]()
Thoughts on Citi DC anyone? Or anything to add regarding Marriott?
Double Cash is a great card and I would say to go for it. 2% cash back on everything with no restrictions, rated consistently as one of the best cash back cards out there in multiple reviews I have read.
0% interest on BOTH purchases and balance transfers for 15 months is helpful as well. You may have other cards you use for specific category spend, but this card can be very helpful from an overall, general use perspective.
I like the card and find it useful, so I'm a bit biased, but you'll find objective reviews mentioning it as a very solid overall cash back card as well. ![]()

I agree it does sound pretty solid. Not sure if Citi is forgiving of negative items. After researching it seems like 700 can get you in but who knows when baddies are involved. It's gonna be a calculated risk...all they can say is no![]()
OP, the Marriott is a verification issue. I would say call today, verify your info and congratulations! Please report back on your SL.
Of of course I'm assuming but I am about 91.5% sure it's an approval. That same thing happened with my Marriott, United, & CSP. I was only instant approved for Amazon (now Freedom), AARP and IHG.
You could do either. My advice from personal experience is to WAIT for the verification letter to come. With all three of mine I waited for the letter, called and was instantly approved after. The one time I called lending instead of waiting (first CSP app) they raked over my reports and denied. 😡 So best outcome? Wait. Can't wait? Call. Let us know!

I find that so interesting. Could it be that there is a different number in the mailed letter that people should have called? Or some sort of reference number that you can give them that brings up a different screen or something? Logically, if all they needed was verification, then pre-empting the letter shouldn't be an issue. Unless they are pissed that they wasted postage for you to call anyway? lol You'd think it was common courtesy to call so that they could close the app and get it out of the queue as fast as possible.
