US Airways

Curious. I was declined for the Hawaiian Air card last week (after an exhaustive security review). Tried to recon severally times and they wouldn't budge. Seems like my 22% util. is an issue.

But in a couple weeks my utility will be down to 5%. I have only 2 inquiries on TU (one from Barclay's already) and one new account showing (DCU).

does Barclay's have an rules about how often you can apply for their cards when declined? Do you need to wait a certain amount of time after being denied?

Re: US Airways

I want to say 90 days but I might be thinking about a different bank. You can always call and ask them - Barclay is pretty nice and won't bite too badly.

Is that 30 days standard for all applications, or 30 days if I wanted to apply for the same card?

If it's the former, I got declined on March 2 for Hawaiian Air, so I should be able to apply for US Airways on 4/2?  Assuming they will still be offering the card then (hoping they do).

Re: US Airways

Yes 30 days. What will your stats be when you apply in April?

I just applied for mine yesterday and had to wait 30 days because I applied for the US Airways card through the wrong link for a targetted offer i didnt qualify for.

Re: US Airways

I'm gonna go for a different card. I was going for the Hawaiian Air, but realized we're flying quite a bit this year on AA (2 international flights so far and probably a 3rd one too). I saw the US airways bonus, and wanted to jump on that.

My stats, by the 22nd of this month will be 6% utilization and balances on only 1 card. Down from balances on 3 cards and a 22% utilization. Will be 2 inquiries instead of 1 (Barclay's was the 2nd pull) On TU. TU score at time of Barclay's denial was 679 (which matched myfico).

So far the only new account showing is my DCU. Chase and NASA have yet to pop up. I was gonna do Care Credit and NFCU, but figure I wait to apply for Barclay's, seeing as they are inquiry sensitive and all.

Your Credit score should go up at least a little bit over 700 with the large payments reporting. To be honest, they will probably deny you online automatically without a HP because of the recent Hawaiian Air denial , but if you are indeed pass the 30 days, just call the Recon line and have them review the app and do a HP

This happened to me yesterday. Automatic denial, no HP due to recent denial on targetted offer. Had to call and allow them to do a HP to officially process the application.
