Re: US Bank AR effective $75 AF recoup

I don't think it's a rule, but it seems like US Bank, in general, doesn't like a lot of recent inquiries.

Based on what I've seen and my personal experience , above seems to apply with no previous relationship with the bank.

I got the AR with 10 inquires on TU and I think all of them where under a year old

How many cards had you opened in the most recent 6 months before getting approved for the card?

I hope you’re right though—I still haven’t heard back from them

Re: US Bank AR effective $75 AF recoup

Finally heard back from them--denied.

The UW told me that the only reason it got denied is because they want to see 6 months of payment history on my existing card with them. This was after I called recon and it was denied a first time for the same reason. Doesn't seem like they want to budge.

This sort of flies in the face of all the DP's that I saw from last year where some people would go as far as applying for the card same day as being approved for a checking account or cash+ and still be approved. As such, I'm not sure if that's the "real" reason or if there's something on my profile that suggests they need 6 months of payment history. I'm also suspicious because they gave me a $1K SL (not surprising), but refused to budge on it even after recon. I had multiple 5 digit CL's, so something must be making them wary. She did make it sound like, though, that if I apply in April/Mayish (after 6 statements have been paid), that I would likely be approved.

Sorry to hear that. "6 months of payment history " What does US Bank mean? Your Cash+ card is less than 6 months old? Or you didn't use your Cash+ card very often in the last 6 months, making US Bank unhappy?

I'm not too sure, actually. She said I had 3 payments months and that it was different from months I've had the card. Hadn't really heard of that before, and sure enough, I'd only made 3 payments on my existing Cash+, which I guess would mean that I've only used the card 3 out of the 5 months I've actually had the card. I'll have to make token payments the next 3 months then, and try to hit 6 months that way. My card is technically 4ish months old, but it's had 5 statements cut already.
