"Waiting" until your reports improve is always a winning strategy. Good luck

It hasn't been released yet, allegedly *some time later in the summer*, and initial apps for $500.00 sub will have to be done in the branch.
Its unclear what the sub will be past that

in Michigan TU. SCL: $14.5K. One HP CLI of $1400.
I'm running a little experiment to test the relationship hypothesis.
I applied for Cash+ on 5/16/19 after a 4 card spree hit my reports. I was told by UW to wait until those four cards were over 6 months old and apply again.
I apped again on 11/20/19 and was told the previous CSR should have told me to wait 12 months, not 6. I had a "cheer me up" spree between the time I was denied and the time I found out why, so I now had to start my 12 month clock over.
In Dec/19 having read all the posts about a relationship helping, I opened a self directed brokerage account, Gold checking and package saving. I have been using the gold checking account as my daily driver since January (when they finally gave me a high enough limit on mobile check deposit to cover my paychecks).
In mid June, I will be in almost exactly the same position for new accounts (actually, one account worse thanks to the Aniston Tidal Wave) as I was when I was rejected in November. My scores are all within 5 points of their November levels and in the high 700's. I will have the 4 cards from my "cheer me up" spree past the 6 month mark (the fifth, AOD, will be close to 3 months). The AOD card should should actually make me less likely to be approved if relationship doesn't count.
Six months of investments, savings and running $10k/month through their checking account to pay other lenders should fit anyone's definition of a relationship. So on 6/22/2020, I will app again.
If relationship is enough to overcome 1/6 - 5/12, I will be approved. If it doesn't get me approved, then I will be 1/12 on 12/5/2020 and will apply again on 12/7/2020 with 1/12 new accounts and 2/12 inquiries.
If I still don't get approved, then I guess they just don't like me.
However it turns out, we should have better evidence to support/refute the relationship idea.
I'm partially tempted to apply for the card, just to see how it'll play.

I'm sorry to tell you, that activity does not a relationship make, especially since you probably got the self directed brokerage trades for free with the gold package.
Relationship for a bank generally means you're bringing in money for the bank. You're generating (non penalty) fees or interest. Mortgages are relationships. Lines of credit are relationships. Wealth management is a relationship product. I don't care what bank we are talking about, they don't give a rats behind about a checking and savings account. Heck they are probably making less than you are on the float from the savings account. Only thing they might make a few cents on is swipe fees from a debit card - if you're using a debit card. You're on the FICO forum so I doubt you're using your debit card much.

You're going to get a denial, but so will I.
"Relationship" won't change strict UW standards. It might help overlook one card, if that's the only point of contention, but 4-5, not happening.
Like I said earlier, they denied those who banked with them for a decade or longer because of new accounts.
Probably not what you want to hear, because while you're calling it "experiment", I can detect hope and almost certainty that "relationship" will somehow sway them.
We all seem to forget these "rules" were put in place to curtail churning, and the only thing that can do that, is not looking like one.
Those of us with many new accounts look and act the part, even if that wasnt the intent behind the apps.
I sincerely hope that I'm wrong, but i estimate my chances at 1%, and that's with checking, savings, investments, AR, and Cash+
In fact, my chance is closer to 0%, but I like to lie to myself sometimes.
Actually @Remedios , you inspired the experiment. I was planning on not applying until December, but I've seen a couple of your posts lately that cast doubt on the idea that a relationship will make or break you.
I decided about 15 minutes before I typed that last message that I've benefited a lot from these boards, but I've never been the guinea pig, just to get DP's for everyone else.
I figure a failed attempt in June won't really hurt my chances in December, so I'm not really risking much as I don't really expect to get the card until December anyway.
If I succeed in June, great. Either way, the community gets fresh DP's on an apples to apples comparison with "relationship" as the only significant variable.
As far as detecting hope... of course I hope I get it in June, but I hope you succeed as well. I hope everyone on the boards gets every card they apply for, but I'm enough of a realist to completely agree with you that both our chances (mine especially so) are slim.😉
@Anonymous , I'm talking about relationship from the point of view of the members of MF who have said/suggested that a relationship helps.
Based on the actions they all suggested to create a relationship, I've got relationship coming out of my butt!
It doesn't really matter to this conversation how the bank defines relationship unless they're secretly posting here and are the source of the "US Bank is a relationship bank" theory. 😱😱😱

Oh dont get me wrong, I'll do it, too.
I'm just not super hopeful based on observations, but that's not going to stop me.
It's a single pull, they already own my TU, might as well let them build a collection.
I have 500 reasons to try.
