Bit the bullet and decided to apply for the card. I got a 7-10 business day review. Is that normal, even for someone with good credit such as myself?

They manually review most applications regardless of scores. It's my understanding that most of the instant approvals are with current US Bank customers.
Yes a friend had 800 scores also and he got the same 7-10 day notice. When US Bank offered me a link for a SP CLI and I got the congratulations on both my Cash+ and Ace Rewards I still had to wait until manual review before getting it. You should have a lock on approval! Congratulations!

Yes, it is completely normal with U.S. Bank. It is a very good sign if you get the screen that asks if you would like to add an authorized user to "your" card or account or something like that. I saw that screen and got the email and card a week and a half later. U.S. Bank has definitely been toughest lender I've applied to for a card.

Congrats...you should have the new card. When I applied, at first I was declined, called that number for recon, and after asking about the other new cards, I was told I was approved. This card gets a lot of negativity from people on myFICO, however I see US Bank as good as most of the other rewards cards out there. I personally like the 5% for paying my cell phone bill monthly with the Cash+ card.
Thanks for the info everyone. I did see the screen to add an authorized user so that is promising. I definitely can't wait to get that 5% locked in for my cell phone bill and fast food. Outside of gas for one quarter, my Chase Freedom looks to be going into hibernation and Double Cash will make up for the other stuff.

Out of curiosity, how much is your cell phone bill? I see a lot of people talk about it as if they'd be getting a ton of cash back.

I'd like that card if it also included the cell phone insurance like Wells Fargo. My Verizon bill averages $250.00 a month so I'd be getting $12.50 back each month with this 5% back card. But I'm saving about $40.00 a month by not carrying Verizon Assurion insurance on each device and paying with Wells Fargo CC.
$250 wow, the insurance thing makes sense.
