US Bank Verification

Good afternoon,
Thanks for viewing. So I am starting my restarting credit journey and went on a spree to get some secured cards. Life happened in 2020 due to covid and kind of messed up my credit profile. So I am rebuilding. I picked up a bunch of crappy cards like Cap One QuickSilver One, Credit One, Bright Way, Aspire and Imagine. I also applied and was approved for a $1000 secured card with Skyla Bank, and am working on paying down my Amex for the optima card program.

I applied for a US Bank Secured card last week of $300. Just to get in good with them. The plan is to let all these cards garden until I pay off my Amex, estimated at 2028. My hopes is the Secured cards would have graduated by then and received some CLI on all cards.

I am stumped because US Bank, I called today to check approval since I hadn't seen $300 come out of my account, and was advised I need to talk to the verification department. They gave me the number to call and said it was like an hour long wait time, so i will call later. Any idea what it might be? No accounts are frozen, no fraud alerts on my profiles or anything. I am super curious now.

Thanks in advance.

Re: US Bank Verification

It's likely an anti fraud/ID verification given the 5 new accounts... Aside from that, USB is generally not very welcoming when it comes to too many new accounts.

Re: US Bank Verification

It’s probably just some extra identity verification. Who knows what triggers it.

Re: US Bank Verification

Good luck!

It took me twelve years to get verified. Always had to go into a US Bank Branch to obtain new products or close old ones. Finally, they had such out of touch IT it was unreal ... shades of the 1990s. Believe they have moved to the modern world today and you may just have to go through a new customer thing.

Also, I am now verified ... yeh!

Re: US Bank Verification

Finally got in touch with US Bank. They just needed to send me a text while on the phone and I verify the 5 digit code. Card approved. Said once the funding comes out they will send my card 7-10 days.

Re: US Bank Verification

Do what you feel you are comfortable with.

I have an 800+ FICO score and quite the limit, and each and every lender typically follows a set pattern for credit approval.  No big detail, it's business as usual.   And yet, one of them want's facial recogition, ID, and another line of verification to verify I am who I claim to be.  I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted finger prints.

I don't have time for that nonsense.  If you want to earn anything from my score, they will have to "bend the knee".   Not the other way around.

I've walked away from a deal or two at an expense of hard inquiry.  Not to my loss.  Not in the least.

$XXX,XXX in credit lines.
Multiple months in free credit reward vacations.
$X,XXX in bank rewards in only 12 months.
I like FREE...

800+ FICO.

Making all numbers dance on a financial ledger.
Abuse that score responsibility.

Take nothing I say as financial advice. DYODD.

@Realist

Do follow your comments. Read where Discover Card was requesting what you just mentioned for verification from some applicants and for receiving a renewal card.

Already have CapitalOne/Discover on the chopping block and when they reissue the card but require me to do what you just stated for verification I am gone. Share your views 100%.

Too many fish in the sea! Loyalty is nonexistent just give me the bottom line!
