OH Sorry... I didn't realize I was in a 'Checking Account Application' Thread... I must be in the wrong place. My bad.

The thread was or got confusing. Glad you brought up about your application as now we know for sure it could be a short or a long application and the "heads up" so if we run into it we have some awareness. I have applied for all kinds of US Bank products and got frustrated by getting errored out and challenged so I went into the branches and got it done. Not all of you may even have that option so I understand your frustration!

This type of comment is uncalled for and exactly what I was talking about. Reardless of which forum the thread is in (and many are posted in the wrong forum quite often), the OP did not specify it was a credit card application. Any more of these types of posts and other actions will be taken.
@Anonymous wrote:The OP was talking abount opening a bank account? Not a credit card so the questions may have been different. Likely such questions wouldn't appear for a credit card? Truth seems we got a couple application processes wrapped into this post. As to trying to open a bank account with US Bank on line they failed me and I went into a US Bank and raised the roof. Took the branch five minutes to process an app with all is well. What is the deal with their online apps is beyond me and it was frustrating (did not get any questions they ran some background while I was online and then failed me). The branch said forget it we will do it for you and simple and smooth. What the ____!
Well, since this is the CC Applications forum and the OP started out by saying he was "cold apping US Bank" I assumed he was app'ing for a CC. I re-read the OP and it's not clear. As I recently opened a US Bank checking account and started a CC app, I can confirm those same questions about foreign transactions/money orders, etc. are on both the bank account and CC application processes.
Yes, the US Bank identity questions can be a pain, the one I wasn't sure about was which multiple choice phone numbers were one of my previous phone numbers. I recognized the area codes as being Las Vegas, where I moved from in 2005. I have enough trouble remembering my current phone number! Either I guessed right or they gave me a pass on getting 2 out of 3 right.
Folks, I apologize if I created a tempest in a teapot by not being clear in my original post...it was a CC app...I just assumed that by posting in the CC application section that it was assumed. I guess I should have proofread it before I hit "send".
At any rate, it was a longer, more detailed CC app than any I've ever seen.
There are US Bank branches all over the place in Cincinnati, I suppose I could just march my happy butt in there and talk to a banker, but I really don't relish the whole sales pitch about moving all of my business to US Bank.
Appreciate your clarity. Your assumption was correct. What through me for a loop is the extensiveness of the application ... it made me think you applied for a bank account due to the types and quantities of questions. The questions seemed more like something you would get when the bank was opening a checking account. Others have posted that they have been faced with the extensive questions for a credit card too so you have much company. When I applied the system gave me all kinds of errors (a hard time in my mind) so I got mad and marched into a US Bank Branch and let it verbally fly. In theory you should not have go to a branch for the application process but based on the insight of the posters in this thread one has to wonder what is up with US Bank. Glad despite the sort of confusion ... you brought this matter forward so others could be aware of the challenges with US Bank online apps. From my own experiences I assumed it was something I was doing wrong until you created this thread. Also, I apologize to all the posters who supplied solid information in this thread as it was my looking at the post and US Bank questions and then thinking it must have been a checking account application (say what posted in a credit card forum) so the confusion was on my part (not the other psoters) and now you made it very clear.
