US Bank online CLI request a hard pull?

I'm considering requesting a credit limit increase on my US Bank Smaryly Visa. Is the online CLI request a hard pull or a soft pull? Thanks in advance.

Sometimes they'll give you a CLI if you freeze your credit reports but other times they're going to send you a letter saying that you need to unlock to be considered.

I have had it happen both ways or rather I froze it and they didn't ask, and still frozen asked again and they told me to unfreeze it.

The time I was not hard pulled was just after taking a near 100% BT offer.

My experience has been, for a year, it was sp, they always turned me down due to a turd score. Two months back, they asked for a thaw, did a hp, and gave me $3000 on each of my cards with them.

October '24, I tried for CLI on USB Cash+ online, it was a SP.

Re: US Bank online CLI request a hard pull?

Thanks everyone. Due to a persistent issue on the transunion website, I'm unable to freeze my TU report. I'm going to hold off on submitting a CLI request because I don't want to risk a hard pull right now.

Re: US Bank online CLI request a hard pull?

I tried a CLI a couple days ago with bureaus frozen.  Was asked to thaw TU and phone them after thawing (new cards with US Bank for me are always EQ).  Yes, TU's credit freeze site is glitching for me as well!  Phoned this morning; was told it could be SP or HP. I got a HP on TU and was told their underwriter needs 2-3 business days... It's been 13+ months since any new cards, but my prior TURD Score with them was 582.  If they turn down the CLI they will give me my current TURD (TransUnion Rapid Default Model Version 1) Score as a consolation prize  Smiley Indifferent

Re: US Bank online CLI request a hard pull?

Thanks @fullstackdev .  They just responded with a 50% increase for my 5-figure Cash+ card!  It may be because of my heavy use, with $549 in cashback so far this year.  Moderately happy with the result, but hated giving up a HP. As I was not declined, I am also not getting any updates to my older TURD Score Smiley Sad
