Yeah, in your case, they either lied to you or had no idea what they were talking about. I would go back to that branch and speak to that person's supervisor to recon.

Re: US bank Cash+ Process of Approval

I was going to apply for a US Bank card but after reading about the bait and switch, I decided not to. I know some don't call it a bait and switch, but you can't see the verbiage about being automatically considered for the lesser card unless you scroll up. If you just land on the application page, all you really see is the button to click to apply. It's obviously not clear enough since many people miss it. Either way, I don't like doing business with companies that play games that way. With all the cards there are in the world, they are lucky anyone bothers with them in the first place.

Re: US bank Cash+ Process of Approval

We'll see what happens.  I'm going to call back on Tuesday and talk to a senior underwriter if I can even get to one.  I'm sure they have a bunch of rules that they probably don't talk to anyone about.  What the first underwriter said was right now I don't qualify for the Cash+ card but I was approved for the 500 cash rewards.  Very vauge.  I'll probably get denied for having too much new credit or too much avaliable credit or they will just say that my credit to limit ratio is too high and just say it's my Barclay card.

Does anyone on here have a Cash+ without a savings/checking account with them?  I feel like everything I've read the common factor is everyone that applies has a checking account with them with a fair amout of liquid cash in it.

Re: US bank Cash+ Process of Approval

Degs138, I had no problem whatsoever talking to a senior underwriter using the backdoor number but can't remember for sure his name. I do have a banking relationship with them but hopefully not for long. Just as a side note I got my first statement for my credit card pretty quick and I don't even see where a payment is due on my mobile app, kind of weird if you ask me. Also, the checking account gold is free if you have a credit card with them (I know you probably don't want a checking)

Re: US bank Cash+ Process of Approval

Just got a letter from us bank giving me my credit report. Nothing on the letter says denial. Whatever score they pulled is a 707. Stated not enough time with current accounts. I'll get more info when I finish reading the letter, I put it in a stack of Financials. I'm moving this weekend

Re: US bank Cash+ Process of Approval

If nothing works, what I suggest is garden for six months, so good usage on credit cards, then go for CLI. Once you reach 5000 limit you can ask them to covert it into Cash+. Usually when there are multiple new accounts they tend to tread the cautious path. But once they know you are good customer, they treat you like king. Yes I have checking savings and three CCs with them

Re: US bank Cash+ Process of Approval

Called into underwriting services again today.  My limit was changed from 500 to 5k.  So now I am eligible for the Cash+.  Underwriter said that they are not able to product change and that underwriting can only change limits.  Customer services can PC but they do not on new cards.  The rep told me to re-apply and call back in right away and that they may be able to apply the 5k line to the application and approve me for the Cash+.  Seems a little weird to do that. Since they are manually reviewing applications I wonder what caused them to only give me a 500 limit until I called in and got the increase to 5k?  A manual review after a manual review.  Well I'll let everyone know what happens later today.

That's interesting... Sounds like you are close to getting your Cash+ card! I'm wondering if re-applying will use another HP?

Maybe you can call the backdoor number right before you apply so you can have them on the phone as you push the application through so they'll know ahead of time what you are trying to do.
