No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Well it finally happened, flat out denied for a credit card besides the CSR flier when it was released (5/24 and I knew I was over that, wound up PCing the CSP to it anyway). Applied in May, got the letter today (mail forwarding took a bit) EX FICO 9 pulled of 828 so presumably wasn't at all score related. Interesting they're on FICO 9 now too.
It was sort of amusing reading their letter, Too many inquiries was the alleged denial reason which is possible but I didn't have anything within a year other than the mortgage pulls so maybe full 2 years or their algorithm wasn't that bright.

Was a nice to have rather than gotta have, not like I'll suffer with my current portfolio but it would've been a useful addition for me personally.
EDIT: Manual review also denied
Too many revolving accounts.
Can't argue that one. Apparently fell out of the haystack.
At time of pull as far as revolving goes:
Wow.. Rough.. Wouldn't of expected that with your profile and not really credit seeking heavily at all.. Possibly worth a recon call imho.
Are you going to make a Recon call? They seem to have become a very tough bunch over there; that is crazy. I noticed you have an auto loan with them that is 19 months old also. So your foot is in the door in some capacity. I want the AR myself and while my scores are decent and would improve with my required year in the garden I have started. However, after reading this I feel like I have no chance at approval whatsoever.

Yeah if I can find time Monday or Tuesday I think it's worth a shot.
If nothing else might get better resolution as to what they were looking at specifically, to your point I didn't really think I fell into heavy credit seeking behavior but hard to say in the current environment admittedly.
Rev, definitely give recon a shot. Your credit-seeking has been pretty limited outside of the mortgage. With a good profile, usually only newly opened CCs seem to be a roadblock.
That does seem a bit surprising considering 3 of those are Morgage related, and I always though they were viewed slightly different than CC's?
Then again this is USB, a somewhat conservative Lender. Maybe they're just upset you didn't consider them for a Mortgage.
Sorry for your denial, though I'm sure you'ds haev good case for recon if anyone did.
Sorry for your denial Rev!
Yeah, that's a head scratcher!
Sounds like low manpower and they stamped a denial on it, in order to clear out the backlogs.
I received a weird denial from BMO.
Denial letter stated I already have a CC with them. Well duh, sure I do.
But it wasn't the CC I had applied for.😆
No too many inqs or to many new accounts. 😂
I knew, as soon as I read it what the deal was. They were just pushing paperwork out.
Someone slapped a crazy reason code on it and let it ride.
If US bank is allowing recons. I think you'd be allowed to get the card.
When the AR first launched, they were sensitive to inquiries. It looks like they're going back to that. Hopefully you can get it overturned by recon.
When US Bank types "inquiries", they mean new accounts.
1/12 passable
2/12 fiddy/fiddy
Anything else/24 sigh.
If you decide to recon, you cannot go through regular CSR, they cannot send it back for that reason.
You need to talk to UW directly, and then you have to turn the charm on, let them know you just moved, your job is depends on your ability to travel, hence Amex (new hub and all that).
Point out to a relatively long period with no applications, because you only apply when absolutely necessary.
Tell them you dont even care if they take SUB away (they wont, but it sounds nice), you need their card long term.

Oh good to know. I found the standard recon line, does that go to UW or am I going to be looking for another number on this one?
