Re: USBank AR Denial

Yup, trick of the light I suppose.  Single page: denied after manual underwrite.

Too many revolving accounts.

Can't argue that one.  Apparently fell out of the haystack.

At time of pull as far as revolving goes:

  • 16 Credit Cards
  • 1 PLOC
  • 1 HELOC

At the bottom of the page though they helpfully told me about the Altitude Web Visa Secured credt card account.  Go me!

Sorry to hear US Bank can be rough.. Probably also got a UW in a bad mood as your profile supports it IMHO and know a people with alot more credit and accounts than yourself.  Sorry it didnt work out whether you want to try for it again in 6 months or just write it off and go with another simliar card only you can answer that one..

Re: USBank AR Denial

Haha, thank you for the support but honestly isn't really that big of a deal.

Yeah it was free money in terms of the Wifi reimbursement and travel credit and I'm using Apple Pay for a lot more too so it probably qualified as excellent, but ultimately it is a marginal improvement on my portfolio and even an extra call it ~2K over 5 years isn't going to make or break assuming my life doesn't radically change before then, and if it does I'll probably be re-evaluating the credit lineup anyway.

When I think about cards I'm going to keep for the rest of my life, this was unlikely to be one of them.  Might be possible as I'm expecting Apple Pay and similar to continue to make inroads as merchant processors, but maybe I'll take a swing at it later.  It's not like I have much intention of opening anything else up at this point, need to be focused on other things and not credit anyway.

You make a very good point, although they’ve been slow to respond, they’ve definitely tightened the Spigots, it seems.

Yeesh even if it is a current-COVID world all these DPs make me think no one would get approved for it right now. Feels bad to see

Well it is admittedly awkward.  Apparently based on some of the Fed and CRA data even credit card originations dropped by a massive amount and even an absurd amount compared to this time last year.

Assuming they are being accurate and there isn't something else that spooked them, I admittedly dwarf the consumer average number of credit cards and that is possibly a flag.

I am tempted to start closing some cards that I really don't use anymore as honestly I have only closed a fraction of the cards I have opened.  What has me considering that is the AR would be a useful card for me and many others are not and there may be some future release of a card I need really badly which this one, isn't gotta have right now.  I have some time on that, the ones clearly in the SD are zeroed out and I think I am just going to let nature take it's course on the inactivity closures as the ones I care about all have recurring or other activity with the lender.

If it is something else then I am not really sure: this FICO Resiliency Index for example has me among the bottom of the forum for people that reported their scores.  Thinking we should take a straw poll on the number of tradelines people have open on that thread.

We'll see, I planned to sit on my hands for a while anyway and with COVID still running it isn't like I can take advantage of the travel credits on the AR currently and perhaps not this year.

Ah well we'll see come January.
