Re: USBank Application Question

I believe that was it. Just a long hold time when I called. I asked for cc dept. Give it a whirl. All they can do is tell you to call back. Maybe you will hit paydirt like I did. I do know, if it's indeed an identity issue they are capable of getting it resolved.

@Traveler101

I just called.  Much more pleasant CSR told me there was nothing in the sytem yet.  I was advised to call back on Monday or Tuesday to see if there are any updates.  I am guessing my issue isn't tied to identity verification?  Sounds like a regular UW process taking longer than usual.

I will update next week of my finding.  In the meantime, I really appreciate the time you took to repeatedly reply to my chain of questions directed at you.

Re: USBank Application Question

You're fine. I wish you luck. I found them to be way nicer too, not as cold. Just sorry you couldn't find resolve. I'm looking at the bright side for me here, sittin at home and not going out to a casino and loose, lol. I don't want to be an April fools sucker.

Re: USBank Application Question

I would imagine it all depends on who you speak with close calls.

In my case approx 3 years ago my Altitude Go went pending. When I called I was transferred to a very pleasant lady who just asked rudimentary questions. On hold for a couple of minutes and told me approved with a 10k limit and actually asked me if that's alright. Jokingly I said how about 20k. Without hesitation she said sure. It now sits at 28k.

That's great!  Glad you even were granted 2x CLI on top of that approval.  Nicely done!

I am going to wait and see if I get any calls or emails from them later today.  (it is just past midnight in SoCal)  I will call before they close at 5PM CST and see how things go.

@Traveler101 also had a pleasant experience with them, so hopefully mine will be the same as you guys.

I just realized though, that my SageStream (which is now part of LexisNexis), Innovis, and ARS were all frozen at the time of application.  Actually what happened was... I unfroze the major 3 CRAs and applied, but when I called them an hour after getting the 7-10 day notice and refreezing the 3 major CRAs, (since I thought it strange that I was not getting notified of any HP) their UW told me my application didn't go through because my reports were frozen.  The application was submitted AFTER I got email notifications from all 3 major CRAs that the reports were unfrozen.  So I had to hang up, unfreeze the 3 major CRAs again, leave them unfrozen, and then call them back again.  That time, the UW lady told me the application went through this time.  When I asked if there were anything else that they needed, I was told no.

I now am seeing some DPs of USBank possibly requiring SageStream/LexisNexis and/or Innovis for applications.  If that is the case, I wouldn't be very happy about their not telling me upfront about it and making me wait 6 days... or maybe even more if they continue to NOT tell me anything over the phone.

I am a little more rushed than normal since I am due to leave overseas this week, so any kind of needless delay is sort of annoying me.  Normally, I would be pretty chill and just wait for the letter.

Thank you all of you, including @M_Smart007 for chiming in.

This is an area where conflicting information has been tossed around for the last few years.

US Bank does at least sometimes pull SageStream for new applications and for a while recommendations were being tossed about (I remember DoC doing so) that SageStream be frozen before applying for a US Bank card.  Multiple people over time have reported on MF that they discovered a frozen SageStream report ==> application denial, but take that as you will.

@coldfusion

Thank you for that handy tip.  I guess my application will serve as another data point for fellow MFers.  I will eventually report back as soon as I find out what they have to say about my application.

Re: USBank Application Question

I got a card offer from US Bank in the mail and last friday I decided to apply and was flat out declined.

TODAY though... i got a text from US Bank confirming that I had made an application and once I confirmed I got another text that said "Thank you, we need more info to complete your application.  Please call 1-855-228-6631 at your convenience or Reply 1 now to be connected".

I wanted to see what was up so I called it... after about 40 minutes on hold a CSR finally picked up and asked me for the application # from the first text and then sent me a verification text to the cell number on record... once i gave her that code she said that they needed to verify identity before proceeding.

They want me to fax front and back of DL and SS card to verify ID.  I'm naturally distrustful, but the funny thing is that the fact that they made me wait on hold for almost 40 minutes makes me fairly confident that this isn't a scam.  and the woman on the phone had a US accent, too.  but faxing both sides of a DL and SS still feels kind of sketchy.  Google searches come up with US Bank for the first 6 digits and gets really close to the last 4, but not exact.  i'm like 99.5% sure it's ok at this point, but if anybody knows otherwise i'd like to hear it.  :  )

Oh mine is worse than yours.  Refer to this post if anyone is interested.  They want not only the DL and SS card, but also last 2 months of bank statement and last 2 years of federal tax return.  Tax return, to me, is too intrusive for a mere credit card application.  I am not that desperate.  Not even on my auto loan was I asked for that.  Only on mortgage loans I would be willing, otherwise I consider this completely needless.

2 wasted EX HP within the last month with 2 different credit card companies in BoA and USBank.  No big deal.  Not that desperate for another credit card.

I think yours was a genuine attempt to reach you.  There were quite a few DPs that I read in this forum of similar situations.  I would call them back directly and make sure that it was a genuine attempt on their part to reach you.  That would be the sure-thing confirmation.

DAFUQ?  tax return for a credit card?  I'm with you on that.  I wouldn't have submitted it either. I wouldn't submit bank statements for a credit card either though (mortgage, totally...) the reason i was optimistic about getting this card was that I already have an auto loan with them from June 2020 with flawless payment history so thought this "invitation" letter was because they were acknowledging that it's been a good relationship...  i'm annoyed at wasting a HP so hopefully they'll give me the card once I submit the verifcation.  it has a super easy SUB... spend $500 in 90 days and get $200 cash back.  I guess I also wasted 2 HPs because my goal was to get a card to transfer balances to and after getting "declined" for this one I signed up for a discover BT card and that was also a HP.

Once I get home from work I'll definitely call to confirm the fax number, but I'm pretty confident it's legit.  no scammer would ever leave somebody on hold for 40 minutes.  hehehe.
