Earlier this week I posted about my application for the Cash+, which ended up getting approved with the infamous $500 SL.
I called in to see if I could get the SL increased to $5,000. My lowest credit limit is $10,000 from my first credit card, so I figured $5,000 would be safer to ask for.
Originally when I called, I was connected with a guy who seemed pretty chill and said he was fine with looking at my existing HP from the initial application for increasing my limit. That really surprised me since I know they usually do HPs, but sadly we got disconnected mid-call 😢
In the next call, I mentioned that I was just disconnected and that the previous guy said we could do it with my existing HP. But the lady I was connected with was not happy about that and said he shouldn't have told me that 😅
Anway, I called in, as it's been 2 days since my request. My request was denied, and the reason was that I just received a new Fidelity Rewards card with a $25K SL from Elan at the beginning of this year, so they want to see the standard 6 months of usage on the Cash+ before getting an increase.
All DPs in the previous post still apply, but she did explicitly mention that they were looking at my TransUnion Fico9.
EDIT: After my call to find out my request was denied, I later logged on to the website to see that they increased my limit to $10K!
Sorry about your recon fail. Theres always next time. Let the 25k card age some.
USB likes that 500 sl card for testing the waters use the hell out of it, cycle it a few times a month even and in 6 months they will show you some love.
where as I don't normally get 25k SLs 500 was laughably low for me as well. I did the above and was bumped up to 10k after 6 months.

Wow, to my surprise, I just logged in online and see they bumped it to $10K. I have no idea what happened after the initial call where the result was a denial, but I will definitely take it.

Congrats! Persistence often pays off!
That's so awesome! I hope that happens to me lol...I have the $500 SL and it's so painful...I can't really buy anything. I avoided cycling the limit the first month since many banks don't like that, but these next months...

To tell you that having Fidelity Rewards card with $25k is the reason to give you only $500 CL is just an excuse, the truth is so many people usually get same limit for this particuar card despite of being with much higher CL on other cards and higher score...higher income...Its ridiculous...
