I put a ton of spend through Ulta for my family and I. Everything from haircuts, makeup, waxing, toiletries, etc. I usually buy most products online. But, I read here that you can be approved in store kind of like a SCT. Has anyone had this happen recently, took the bait, and can you tell me if it is a hard pull, and any cases of the 7-10 day message even when told you were preapproved ? Sorry for playing 20 questions for a store card, but I don't want to cold app if I don't stand a decent chance at the card. For me, the double rewards would be sweet with a teenage daughter.
I tried several times to get the SCT pop up. It never worked for me. I was about a month past BK discharge and cold apped. I got a $500 CL on a store card. That is a good amount for me for that kind of card.
Thanks for replying! That's about the amount I would like to get. I am ok with just store card right now as I do have other credit cards for everyday use. I basically just wanted the card to use and pay in full so I could get double rewards. They stack up in a hurry! I would be lying if I said I wasn't trying for the SCT online, lol. I haven't seen too many people who say they got the approval from the website. Most say they were prompted in store.
I don't know about the SCT on this card but I have seen people at the register get the pre approved message. What are your scores? The MC like all comenity Visa and MC's have higher UW standards compared to their store card counterparts.
Alas, only a 656 fico 8. I know, not great. But perhaps good enough for a store version. My only worry about cold apping is 15 inquiries. All over a year ago when I was looking at cars. But I have seen people turned down because of that.

That's certainly good enough for the store card. They usually pull EQ. Best of luck if you decide to go for it.
I don't remember my score when I got the card. I think I was lower 600s when I got it.
Thanks creditguy and EM71! You are both very encouraging. Geez, what's a girl to do? I was supposed to be gardening BUT..... I am making a trip to Ulta tomorrow, and if I could be preapproved at the register, I am not too sure if I will pull the trigger. I need to get my AAoA together.
I was pre-approved and got the Mastercard; it was a hard pull to Equifax, the score was around 670. If I had to do it over, I would have just gotten the store card; I think it would grow faster, and with a 20+% APR, I'm definitely not going to carry a balance, nor use the card outside of Ulta anyway.
I actually would prefer the store card too, but when preapproved for the Mc version I am not too sure you can ask for just the store card. There should be that option though because the rewards and interest rate for the Mc outside of Ulta is crazy to me. Pretty sure, if/when I apply my scores will only warrant store anyway. Pretty much the only time in my life I have been ok with a less than stellar score.
