Hi All!!
Looking to rebuild my credit, going to try and buy a camper this year. Got big in the hole while I was in Nursing school and DH lost his job abck in 2008, and was unemployed most of 2009.
Im looking to get a few CCs to rebuild credit, Income is good now, and all bills are paid that can be paid and up to date.
Would like a couple of unsecured cards, to go allong with the New Discover It secured card I just got w/ $1000 CL, but would like to avaoid and HP and potential denials
Looked at Credit one preapprove site, but asking for full SSN, and looks like a HP. Am going to try Cap One also. Would like to do all together in one App spree if possible.
ANY other suggestions Welcome and appreciated!!!
Thanks

Any NEW credit card you apply for -- doesn't matter whether you're pre-approved/pre-qualified -- will be a HP because it's a brand new credit application. Almost everyone here will tell you to stay away from Credit One.
What are your FICO scores and utilization?
I am just trying to get a Preapproval prior to the HP, so I dont get a bunch of HP with rejects.
Ficos listed in signature.
Utilization is 0%, because prior to yesterday, I have NO credit cards, several studentloans, motgage and auto loan, all in good standing.
DH scores WAY worse than mine, would have to get on mine.
Really just wondering wich unsecured are good at reporting, hopefully generous with CLIs, but forgiving to poor history.
Please stay far, far, far away from predatory lenders like credit one.
You're better off trying for cap1 secured, disco secured, boa secured, or/and a CU secured.
This will teach you to properly use credit with the right mindset.
By the time these have grown in 6 months, the inquiries won't really matter. Basically non-existent after a year.
The answer to your question is there will be NO HARD PULL for using any prequalify site. You only get hit with the HP if you decide to actually apply for the card.
Your best course of action is to know your actual Fico scores and post them and other relevent details from your credit report here and allow those with a understanding of these cards help you select cards to apply for that you have the highest liklihood of success. When I did my rebuild a couple of years ago I applied for cards that in hindsight I had no business of applying for and ended up with a bunch of HPs that of course don't help you. I know do a lot of research before I apply and make sure my utliization on my cards are as low as I can get them to and have reported, this is where Myfico subscription comes in very handy. You can know exactly where you stand in terms of credit before you apply, will you still get denied every once in a while? Of course because no two situations are identical but generally speaking the experts here can steer you in the direction that you have the best chance of success.
Sorry, didn't see your scores at the bottom. I would stick with Cap One even if you have to go secured again. Give it a few months and take care of any other baddies once you get in the low 600's you will have other options. Avoid Credit One. If you can get into NFCU join and apply for cards with them because they are good to folks in the upper 500's and lower 600's.
You just got a card...with Discover...and a pretty good SL with your history...your best bet now is to wait. You have a very high chance at getting denials at this point...your $0 balances are probably not even reporting yet. Use this new card...stay under 20% ALWAYS and make payments on time. Do this for about 6 months (which should be around when your Discover goes unsecured) and then apply for a real credit card...I would suggest Amex BCE/ED/BCP because you already have Discover and they grow fast. Do not get another secured card...you already have the best one. The rest are difficult to get unsecured. Just wait.
Thanks Gang!
Ive read on on here that having 3 CC and using 1 at under 20% really helps to boost scores, so that's why I was looking at getting a couple more.
will keep Cap one and BoA on the back burner and it sounds like CreditOne is a junk card to avoid
I'm on the myFico Premier 3B so I'll be getting updated fico scores and reports monthly
