Counting this new Slate card, this is my 8th new credit card account in less than 2 years.
Interesting....So they relaxing the 5 new cards in two year rule now on non co-branded cards? This is why I asked..
I saw that elsewhere on here, but obviously it didn't apply to me. Ymmv!

Slate doesn't earn UR points, so it probably doesn't apply. Congrats, hope limit is enough you don't max out card.

I agree about not UR earning, but always heard it feel under the CSP/Freedom/Slate rule, which obviously it doesn't or is starting to be relaxed perhaps? Who knows. Good outcome none the less

Interesting indeed. I want to test the co branded waters at some point. Plus marriot 80k looks good. Or even 70k. On the fence. Maybe amex Hilton.

I am not very familiar with co-branded credit cards. That will be the next level for me after Jan of this year. I still would like to get the Discover card, but with what I have now, I really don't need much else. All I need to do is work on the credit lines and allow them to increase. The toughest work is done. I battled hard and came back from the bad credit abyss. Chase Sapphire seems like a great card as well once I have had the Slate card for a year, I will be able to pc it.

This is the kind of news I've been hoping to hear. I hope this means they're starting to ease up on that darn 5 card policy. Were you pre-qualified for the Slate by any chance?
Anyway, congrats on your new card!

I think that 5 card rule is a myth. Maybe they did do it in the past, but it wasn't an issue for me. I've opened a lot of accounts recently and they didn't object to any of them, not did they as me about them. They just asked why I have so many auto loan inquiries. No, I have never been pre-qualified for any card. I had a fraud alert on my Experian, hence the "Decesion Pending" notification when I first applied for the Slate. I think there is also a promotional file block on my credit reports as well and that keeps me from getting the pre-appoved status.
Thanks! I worked so hard to get to this point!
