Hello everybody,
I have read here about the Amex 61 day CLI, but I am hesitant to apply. I am not sure that the standard rules are going to apply in my case.
I recently paid off my oldest credit account. It was a 2.5 year motorcycle loan.
Now, my average age shows 9 months. I have....
NFM store card 6k
US Bank Harley Visa 3k
Amazon Chase Visa 4k
Amazon store card 3.5k
Gander Mountain MasterCard $1750
Reported income of 50k
No negatives or late payments, scores showing around 750.
A month ago, I decided to apply for the Amex BCP. I expected a 1k sl and would have been thrilled with a 5k sl. I was instantly approved with a 15k starting limit!
I have run 4k through this card already, and will probably run another 1-2k before my 61st day.
I have also financed a new car since I got this card.
Do you think that it is reasonable for me to request a CLI at 61 days, or do you think that I should just count my blessings and be happy with what I was given to start with?
Thank you, I know that was long....

Go for it, it doesn't hurt to try. It doesn't affect future chances. You can try as many times as you like. It's a SP. Plug in $30k and see what happens. If it asked for the income verification just walk it down $1000 at a time until it gives an instant approval.
+1 I would go to what you're comfortable with whether it's $30k, full $45k or whatever else you like they'll most likely counter if the IV prompt doesn't pop up.
Thank you both. I will wait until the 61st day and see how things look. As long as all of my balances look good, and purchasing the car did not negatively affect my score, I will put in a CLI request. I appreciate the advice, and will update this post with the results.
Never hurts to try even though $15K was very generous.
Is nobody going to ask? Okay I will do it; what car did you buy?
Lol, nothing fancy. Just needed an inexpensive AWD SUV. So, I took advantage of some rebates and purchased a 2017 Buick Encore.

That makes sense. I do believe that the old loan has reported as closed. I have no idea when the new one will report, but the first payment is going to be due close to when the Amex account will be 61 days. I will wait until I am sure that that loan has been reported before applying for the CLI.
Another thought, when Amex reports the BCP it will nearly double my available credit. I have read that they may not report for the first two or three months. Should I wait until that account shows on my reports before attempting the CLI, or will it make any difference at all to Amex?
