It was a hard pull when I received the card. My Fico score did dropped a few points because of it. However, looking back now. A temporary 3 points drop in the short term to 90 point gain since then is well worth it. I got all the benefits of a new card. After 90 days of account opening and paying the balance off each month; I asked for a CLI, I got a denied message stating that I've reached my maximum unsecured credit with NFCU. However, I just nocited that they automatic raised my credit limit back in December by 3K. That was like an unexpected Christmas gift. I have to say that all hope is not loss with NFCU. From my experience, denial is just temporary. Furthermore, CLI has always been a Soft pull so I am not left undefeated with a denial and a ding to my score. As long as you're responsible using your credit card and making payments, it's easier to get a CLI from NFCU than other CC companies like CapitalOne for example.
Hi Aim_High, I followed your advice regarding the NFCU More Rewards Amex. I got lucky though and they approved me for $7900 with $7000 BT.
I posted it here.

Congrats on your More Rewards approval, @Anonymous! 😁
You have a long and complex Navy relationship so it probably did help! I'm wondering, since this was card #3, if maybe your total debt or DTI held you back from an even higher limit, but a $7900 approval is still great! And we all know how Navy cards can grow. Enjoy that More Rewards!
Hi, thank you for the reply. Yes, I think my DTI is still quite high because of my truck and house payments. Once my credit card debts are resolved within 15 to 18 months, I will pay at least double payments on my truck.
An update:
Aim_High,
NFCU auto cli my More Rewards Amex card by $2000 from $7900 to $9900 before I able to apply for CLI. That same day, when I about to apply I saw a notification saying that my credit limit was increased. I sent a secured message to get more CLI through nfcu app but they told me it was decided and they cannot change it. I guess I have to wait until Dec or Jan to ask for another CLI.
