Okay we are having a hard time because it is not at a collection agency and Bloomingdales doesn't want to remove the trade line.
they probably won't delete it but you should PAY the bloomingdales in full right now!
Bloomingdales and Macy's will both issue accounts again once you pay them... you may have to wait 3 years but they will let you back in and besides it's so new it's really hurting him and will probably keep him from some good approvals with the scores he has.
Pay that off and then check the pre-qual for amex and chase, citi
Nixon adds in what I forgot...going to shut up now.

they won't... just pay it in full.
I'm scared to pay it because it will update LOL But I guess we have to

Better to update as paid than to fester as unpaid.

yeah update PAID! it won't change that it will drop off in 7 years from when it went bad but change that you have not paid something off... trust me I have paid baddies and it doesn't help your score but I actually started getting approved for things once I had it paid and then once I cleared 1 year from paid it was a really big mark for better creditors.
When did this account With Bloomingdale's charge off? How old are the Capital One accounts and what are the limits?
If Bloomingdale's doesn't get paid ASAP it may go to a a collection agency adding another negative to his file. The balance is so low there is not much incentive for them to do a pay for delete.
Sounds like he had recent financial problems because if he had just paid the bare minimum payment it would not be a charge off on such a low balance.. I wouldn't apply for any credit for him. Just pay on time for the rest if the year. Pay off Bloomingdale's now.
Many couples have one spouse who handles all the money and credit. It is community property and all the bills get paid from the same pot. My wife lets me handle all the money and credit. I just tell her what I'm doing. She's not good at that. I have legal authority over my elderly mom's finances. No biggie.
Is your credit good? If you guys are ok financially now and you want another account you could apply in your name and add him as an au. Leave his file alone for about a year.
I am on a roll today for sure. I was approved for the chase freedom, Amex green and the Amex ED. We just applied for Amex ED for my DH and well he was approved for 2500 and the Bloomies charge off is not yet paid! His limit is 2500!! Shocker for sure. Shall we try another Amex tonight? Lol to get the 2 cards 1 pull does he have to have the only account set up already or no? Also can it be two revolvers? If so which one should he go for?
