Re: Updated: SCT is now a HP! No more tricks!

I got the Boscovs card and Overstock last Oct. both were HP’s, I had 3 increases with soft pulls...

Yesterday morning both cards were had CLI increase of $4,000 each.

About an hour ago almost 24 hours later my Equifax got hit with 2 HP’s from both cards. -17 points, that has happened to me before so I’m not gonna panic the score usually goes up the same amount in a month after the CLI shows up, my first CLI ever was a HP went down 60 points I was devastated next month went up 58 points when the increase showed so only lost 2 points then, so I’m hoping same thing happens here. Was gonna spring for Best Buy card now I gotta wait lol good luck to all

So you're saying they did a HP on you for an unsolicited CLI?  I thought only a CLI request initiated by the consumer would cause a HP.

Yes they can do a HP on you at anytime, it’s in all CC user agreements although most never do it, I called them all they said is they don’t know why both were HP’ s but congrats on the increases the only thing I can think of is my roommate who lives at the same address but has absolutely nothing to do with my credit is going thru bankruptcy.

Shopping Cart Trick Not Working

I have read the SCT no longer works. That’s simply not true as I was able to trigger three different ones tonight. Of course I didn’t accept any of them....but the SCT is alive and well

Re: Shopping Cart Trick Not Working

You can still get pre-approvals but if you go through with the application they will result in a hard pull. The SCT allowed it so it was only a soft pull.

Re: Shopping Cart Trick Not Working

Yeah, word is that regardless of the verbiage or how the app looks, it results in a HP. The card issuers must have gotten smart. Or they have covert operatives on these forums.....

Amex Cash Magnet: 24.4k
Fidelity Visa: 21.5k
Apple Card: 13k

Re: Shopping Cart Trick Not Working

There have been a few posts recently that suggest the SCT does still work. Approval without a HP. Still waiting to see if those HP are delayed or if they were actually SP. Personally, I tried the SCT with Overstock in Dec 2018. It resulted in a HP. YMMV, I suppose.

Helping rebuild My fiancé credit, went on VS and J crew got the your pre approved for both , put in last 4 SS and both applications resulted in a HP. I gusss it is a hit or miss now if it will be a SP for the SCT or depending the card.

Re: Shopping Cart Trick Not Working

DoctorLoomis,
It's a trick if you can get a soft pull approval. Many sites have pop ups for credit and huge discounts. The last 2 posters saying they got SP approvals haven't returned to verify it stuck as a SP. Either way expect a HP more than not unless Comenity back tracked on the HP's since October of 2018. Tx
