Husband applied for Venture Card on Saturday after getting approved for QS over 30 days ago.
Yesterday he got the 'card shipped' email. Today he logs in to his account and gets a call saying the account is currently restricted and he needs to contact the fraud department about a recent application. I hop they don't end up closing this new card because that $15k starting limit is nice.
I have a feeling my new Venture at $10k will get the call/email soon because I applied and got Venture One and QS last month and then Venture the day before he got his.
Hopefully it's just verification. Keep us updated when you find out.
That was the most awkward call with CO Fraud I have ever had. And I have had many because my card number kept getting stolen at gas stations in Los Angeles. We became very good friends with CO Fraud when my account was skimmed once every 2 months.
Today's call took a while for the rep to locate the case. It turns out when the application was submitted it listed our shared phone number and not the cell. The only number Capital One had on file for other accounts was the cell.
So they had us verify the number we received the voice message at (cell), verify the number we called from (cell), and then they would call back to the same number to verify it would reach the correct person.
The representative was very friendly, explained the process, and once the account was verified she lifted the restriction, confirmed the credit line, and advised us to ensure we activate the new card within 10 days of receiving it.
I just found it odd that the account was approved and the card shipped email went out if they were concerned about something on the application.
Oh well... time to get that minimum spend for the 40k bonus miles!
I'm glad everything worked out. It does sound a little backwards, you'd think they would verify it's really you BEFORE shipping out the cards.
Verification, cap1 usually approves then verify you after right before they ship the card. This happened to me as well. They are one of the lenders that once approve noramlly never take it back.
That has happened to me with BC but never CO. I have been happy with CO customer service as they usually handle concerns problems promptly.

This happened to me as well. I applied for two cards and both cards went through this process. They mentioned this extra step was due in part to the fact that I have several other Cap One accounts.
