Re: Venture odds??

I waited for Venture until I was prequlified. Not that its a guaranteed approval with prequalify but since Cap1 pulls each burea..  Was not willing to pull the trigger and take 3 HPs  without it.

After I got the prequalify I apped and was approved.

Wait!

Re: Venture odds??

Capital One is kind of strange when it comes to their qualifications about "excellent" credit. If you have history with them and a current card you are much more likely to be approved for something that you wouldn't normally be approved for especially if you make all your payments on time. I have the Venture and Venture one and the Quicksilver. My scores were definitely not over excellent, 1.5 years post BK, no $5,000 cards. I didn't have excellent credit at all when I applied for the Venture, I was still approved though. I would totally use the pre-qualification site and see what they say. If it doesn't say yes about the prequals maybe just wait a few more months. :-)

I was just approved for it this past weekend with a limit of 15K.   My FICO scores across the board are about 705

Thanks.  This information helps.  I believe I am similarly situated and am considering apping soon.

Good luck!

I was just too chicken to pull the trigger without a prequalify in my pocket first Smiley Wink    I would have been super pissed wasting 3 HPs!

Not sure how much it matters but another data point for me. I have had a card with them for 4 years. Started as a rebuilder card with $300.00 limit. Lots of CLIs and upgrades over the last couple years. It's now a Quicksilver VISA Signature with 10K limit. So I did have a long perfect payment history with them.

Re: Venture odds??

Me, too!  Had my secured card with them from 4/11-12/15 -- CapOne would never graduate or CLI, so I finally closed it -- had 2 QS1s from 3/15 and combined them 11/15 to have one $2,800 limit and then checked the pre-qualify site in December and was approved for another QS1 for $1,000.  I didn't really want it (just wanted to know SL amount), but took it thinking that I would combine it with the other once it got six months old.  Perfect and large payments on all accounts.

I've had a couple of things deleted from my reports past couple of weeks that caused a bump in score, so I went back to the site and, lo and behold, was pre-qualified for a Venture, Venture One and QS (with an interest rate).

I have acquired 10 cards in the past 11 months (highest limits:  NFCU $22,000, Wal-mart $5,000 and Amex ED $4,000).  Oldest account is 16.4 years; AoA is 2.4 years; Inquiries: EQ-31; TU-9; EX-17.  Hoping for some CapOne prime luv!

HA  that sounds a lot like my recent experience. I was waiting for a couple of old baddies to fall off and finally end of Jan they dropped. Scores shot up overnight 60 points.

Checked Cap1 day before and nothing, day after scores went up and boom there was Venture.

Re: Venture odds??

OP have you tried the pre qual? With the Venture and Venture One using FICO 04 if those scores are higher (usually are) then you may get in. But I'd check the prequal first!
