With your score you'll probably get either one.
Except for the opening bonuses, the only issues are (a) whether you're going to use the card enough to justify the modest annual fee of Venture or not and (b) whether you use your points for travel or for cash back. For cash back you get half as much as for travel.
The Venture gives you 2 points per $1 spent, at a cost of a $59 annual fee, while the Venture One gives you 1.25 points per dollar spent with no annual fee.
So if you were going to spend $6k per year, and use your points for cash, it would play out like this:
Venture $6000 = 12,000 points = $60 cash minus $59 annual fee = +$1.
Venture One $6000 = 7500 points = $37.50 cash = +$37.50
But if you were going to spend $12,000 per year it looks a little different:
Venture $12k = 24k points = $120 cash minus $59 annual fee = +$61
Venture One $12k = 15k points = $75 cash = +$75
And if you were going to spend $15k per year you start to see the value of the Venture:
Venture $15k = 30k points = $150 cash minus $59 annual fee = $91
Venture One $15k = 18750 points = $93.75 = + $93.75
And if you were to spend $20k per year:
Venture $20k = 40k points = $200 cash minus $59 annual fee = $141
Venture One $20k = 25k points = $125 cash = +$125
Bottom line if you're definitely going to be up in the $20k per year category, you start coming out
better with Venture than Venture One.
Venture gave me a 10K SL recently with scores 20-30pts lower than you. I believe you would like venture better. You could also do both back to back if you think you can spend the money to get the bonus on both cards and then PC the Venture One to something else or possibly even combine the limits if Cap 1 starts doing that as rumored.

The Quicksilver beats the Venture One every single time. There is absolutely no reason outside of the bonus to even apply for the Venture One.
+1, VentureOne sux,
Quicksilver is the better card. Practically identical underwriting so there's no need to ever apply for the sucky VentureOne.
The Venture (not VentureOne) is the card with the ridiculous starting credit limits...so it's worth it if you want a high SL.
So for me the Venture (high SL) and the Quicksilver (no AF and decent all around 1.5% card) are the only 2 cards to get from Cap1. I will eventually convert all my Ventures to Quicksilvers.
^ +1
I went for the Venture One (was not sure I would get the Venture), received 10,000.00 SL V sig., next year I want to convert that to QuickSliver, for now I will get the 20,000 miles and whatever else I put on it.
I would apply for both. You will end up with a total of 60k miles. Then after six months you can consolidate the Venture into the Venture One to avoid the AF. Make sure to use your reward points prior to consolidation. (on the Venture)
