Venture preapproval question

I was wondering how reliable the online prequalification is. Says I'm prequalified for Venture at 18.24 APR with opt out info on bottom.

I have MANY inquiries 23 TU (6 auto), 31 ex (14 auto), 36 EQ (17 auto)

I've read that's a common reason for denial usually.

I also have a paid 6 yr CA and paid 6 yr CO reporting monthly.

Re: Venture preapproval question

Cap One prequals are usually very reliable. Cap One has denied people for excessive inquiries but sometimes that's just what they put. Normally they don't seem to get caught up by inquiries so if you want to take a shot, go for it. You will endure the dreaded triple HP hit but at this point what's another 3 inquiries right?

Cap1's pre-quals are very solid - I trust them.

Re: Venture preapproval question

First time ever before I applied for anything, I crunched the numbers and not sure I'd spend enough to justify the AF to outweigh my quicksilver. I dont to open a card for just one year.

My rebuild is over and I've consolidated down to five cards that make sense for me and my spend.

Do you not like the VentureOne which doesnt have an AF. It still has a 20,000 point bonus attached to it if you meet the spending requirment.

Re: Venture preapproval question

Yeah but my QS is 1.5 vs venture one 1.25 the 20k sign up on that isn't enough to get me out of the garden for a triple pull

Well you can open it, then get the 40k miles ($400 for travel), and then before the annual fee hits next year you can combine the credit line into your Quicksilver and close the Venture.
