I was poking around today to see if I was preapproved for anything else and WF indicated that I was preapproved for another Visa and gave me 4 options. I picked the Reflect card because it was the only one with no AF and submitted the very short app, not expecting much. Within 15 seconds I was approved with a $26K SL!!! I'm pumped.
It seems that when they issued the new Reflect card with its $26K SL, they simultaneously reduced the $25K CL on my existing Active Cash Visa to $1K!!! When I called them they said they had sent me an explanatory letter (which I still haven't received).
Anyone ever had this happen? I wasn't really looking to take an HP to basically transfer my CL from an existing card to a new and inferior card (yeah, I know I got a net $2K increase; BFD). I would love to unwind the entire deal and get the HP taken off. Any suggestions?
You could call them to see if they'll either grant you a CLI on the AC, or reallocate part of the Reflect limit back to the Active cash.
has the active cash been used in the last 6 months?

Excellent question, and you've probably hit the nail on the head. The card had a credit balance for a while which was refunded in April 2024. I haven't used it since. During the 12 months prior to that I charged about $100K on it in total and PIF-d every month, but I don't suppose that does me any good.
My real question is: Is there any way for me to have this entire sequence of events rolled back to where we were 10 days ago? That would include canceling the new card, reinstating the CL on the old card, and removing the inquiry. I assume the answer is no, but I do feel that WF did not act professionally. Had they said: "Hey, we can approve your new card with this great SL but we would need to do a huge offsetting CLD on your old card," I would never have accepted it.
Oh well.

you're going to have to call and ask to see what they do, let them know you're unhappy, tell me what you want to happen and see what they can do
I think a good compromise for you would be for them to put your limit back on your active cash and hopefully have your new card not report to your credit, the inquiry would likely have to stay, but ask, if needed, ask for a supervisor.
they have no obligation to help, but you don't know if you don't ask

Jeez man. It'd take me 10 years to do that. I'm surprised if that's the case.
do you have any deposit accounts with them? They get my Direct Deposit, I like the app. Most important thing with my bank for me. 💅🏻

Yep, it happened to me as well. I had an Autograph Visa (former Propel) with a $15k credit line, and I applied for an Active Cash. The AC was approved instantly with a credit line of $18.5k, but my new limit on the Autograph was $1.5k, LOL. The letter I got stated that I could call into customer service for a reallocation if I wanted but I haven't bothered (I don't use the Autograph so I don't care).
I've not looked in a while but WF applications used to have fine-print that stated if you have an existing account that hasn't be used in six months they can do a realloation as part of the approval process for a new card.
It's probably possible to reverse the reallocation, but the HP is almost certain to remain and the new account will be on your credit report (even if you close it out now). If it were me I'd consider hanging on to the new account (with or without an additional reallocation) and make the best of the situation.

Thanks. I'll have to make the best of a bad situation. This is also affecting my aging numbers, whether or not I leave the new card open.
The automatic reallocation of unused credit happened to me a few years ago.

That's the fine-print I remember! @NoMoreE46 to the rescue with the receipts!
