Re: Walmart Store Card Criteria

Like the posters above, I have about the same credit score and was approved a few days ago. I did receive a mailer that said I was pre-qualified and not pre-approved. I was on the fence about this as well, as I didn't need another useless hard pull. I figured I would try again and was approved! The limit was $600 and hopefully it will go up over time.

Starting Score: Jan 2014 EQ: 595 TU: 575 EX: 550
Current Score: Feb 2015 EQ: 615 TU: 650 EX: 643
Goal Score: Hoping to join the 700 Club this year!

What did you state during reconn and what did they ask you? Thanks for your response. It will be very helpful. I get the feeling I would have to use reconn too to get a higher limit.

Re: Walmart Store Card Criteria

Does anyone know the rhyme or reason that they would give the MC version or the store version? I got instant online approval for the store version at 1k SL.

650ish myficos across the board.

Re: Walmart Store Card Criteria

I told the nice lady that I wanted to buy a new tv and needed the credit line to be at 1100, she placed me on hold and came back about 2 minutes later and stated my new limit was 1100. I jut have the plain store card and had the $25 rebate on my first statement.

Re: Walmart Store Card Criteria

I was approved for the store card this week with a 605 fico on TU, lots of derogs and about 5 months since my most recent late pay.  Credit limit $500 and I received the bonus offer of $25 statement credit if I spent $75  online the same day I opened the card. Also, this card reports immediately on your credit report. It was reporting two days after I opened the account online.

Here's the Rates / Fees page from Walmart:

The MasterCard version has a signup bonus, but apparently the regular store card doesn't from what I can tell.  The MasterCard's signup bonus is a $25 statement credit for spending $75 or more the day you open the account, and an auto $5 statement credit for every $500 you spend (essentially 1% cashback).

Edited to add: I don't see introductory interest rates or any special deals like that for either card.

The store card had that bonus the day I applied.  Didn't take advantage of it.  Thus far I haven't been charged interest on the card, even when I haven't PIFed.  I've paid in full all but one bill.  I also got mine with about a 625 TU with a few baddies, and was my first card outside of Credit One (don't ask).
