Re: Walmart mastercard

I'm trying to remember how I happen to have a WM store card of 6k and a WM MC of 8k. I was never sent an upgrade offer. If I recall, the option to apply online was there, which may not be an option anymore.

If you keep it long enough most likely they'll going to upgrade you to MC version.

I was going to say pretty much the same thing.  I have seen 2 or 3 mass upgrades over the last year, and got a letter about 6 weeks ago telling me I would get a new MC in April.

I have to say, though, that I don't really see much use with the MC over the store card,  I'll certainly take it, but can't see myself using anywhere but WalMart.

Have to agree there, however I saw an article few weeks ago that Walmart.com wants to compete or have a similar online system as Amazon.com! So its worth to wait and see how it goes.

Yep.  The fact that it doesn't cost anything, and that WM is trying to upgrade the online experience is really the only reason I didn't call and tell them not to upgrade me.  There is no downside, and although I see no use for the MC over the store card, there's also no reason not to take the upgrade,

I'm not even a big fan of Walmart.  The store here is one of the worst I have ever seen.  I drive to the next town over, because I can literally drive the 20 miles, shop, check out, and drive the 20 miles back before I can get through the checkout at the closer store.  I wish I was exaggerating.

I have read here of people, even having the store card, who get offered the MC in-store, I think I have heard the same about Sams.  Not sure if it was more than a year after getting the store card (as it's now being reported that you can only app every 12 months), but for some reason, I thought it was more random and frequently than the 12 month prohibition would suggest,

Re: Walmart mastercard

Don't close your store card just wait for the upgrade letter to come. I see that they are upgrading customers to the Wal-Mart MC 2 times a year. 1st upgrades going out the 1st of the year and 2nd upgrades going out Aug/Sept. I got the my upgrade letter in Feb and it said that I will get the new card in April 2017. I will tell you I opened the walmart store card in Dec 2015 and I charge close to the limit and pay off in full by the statement date so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it. I just increased my limit 3k to 6k a few days ago on my wally store card. My TU 690 with 14 inquiries . Patiently WAIT & your upgrade will come. good luck OP Smiley Happy

Re: Walmart mastercard

I have had the store card since Dec 2015 . I Shop a lot in walmart and have taken advantage of the special financing. Started at 250$ but got to 5000 2 weeks after approval. I received the upgrade offer in jan 2017 ,waiting for the MC to come in April. Meanwhile via online luv button got it bumped to 10000. Chatted online and found out that upgraded MC comes with all store card benefits such as rewards & Special financing ( at walmart stores). I remember asking for the upgrade offer in 2016 and was told i did not have one. But to my joy was given one beginning of this year Smiley Happy) All in all I am pleased with this card.

"You can't always get what you want...BUT if you try sometimes you get what you need...." Sorry about the trouble getting an upgrade OP, I just applied for a Walmart store card (I thought) my wife loves it there, and was approved for the MC, with a $750 limit....LOL, well that is OK I guess my wife would probably spend no where near that a month....Seems no rhyme or reason with approvals and credit limits, granted my scores are the lowest they have ever been at 702 TU.....Good luck in getting it upgraded, I hope you get what you WANT!!!

Re: Walmart mastercard

Walmart Mastercard is overrated by the time you qualify for the MasterCard version you can snatch visas and  MasterCards from good Banks.  That being said they always have deferred financing on purchases but the store card covers that just fine.  Just keep it.
