More data for OP. Even tho i encourage any way to hit 700 within a short timefreame and app only then, lookie! 

Well, I was in the garden for 26.5 hours. I stepped on my own seedling. I just was approved for the PRG 50,000 points. I was denied a GREEN card weeks after I got my ED card back in February. TU 699 EX 680 as of the 25th I believe. I think a baddie just came off that i have been sending letters to, my valero card 2013 30 day late.

Just to add a data point, I was approved for a Green card and a BCP back in April with an EX FICO of 695.  I applied for the Green first, since it's said that charge cards are easier to qualify for... of course, this is YMMV like everything else.

I have two COs that are six years old, and I had an Amex account IIBK7 back in 2000.  The terms on my BCP aren't the greatest (21.9% APR after promo, only $1K SL) but I got approved.  (Yes, Amex does remember the previous account... when I log on to my account it greets me with "Member since 1995"... also, CLI was denied due to "previous negative experience with American Express account...)  It will likely be a long time before I get a CLI (if ever) but for my purposes it works just fine.
