I'm sure that "too many new accounts" could be a denial reason for any card. It is not a set rule for the Amazon visa like it is for Freedom/CSP/Slate

They denied me for a CLI on my Marriott Premier citing "Too many inquiries" and "Too many new accounts" and then approved me for the Disney Premier Card the following day. Go figure.
Reading the boards there seems to be no consistant rhyme or reason to approvals...denials..and CLIs. Those that look as if they should be denied are approved and the ones that look pretty good are denied. It seems to be a roll of the dice. Crazy... I'm waiting on an answer for the Chase Marriott Premire. The message says they'll give me an answer within 30 days...the Status line says the same. So I wait.

My Disney app did that as well. Have you called? I called and the Verification Department wanted to verify my address and the credit limit on my other card and they approved the card. Agent said it would arrive in 7-10 days. Sent a Secured Message online and agent said it would be there in two days.
@Anonymous wrote:5/24 seems to apply to everyone under all conditions. If there are people getting around it, they are either lying, or not the norm.
Lying is a very strong accusation.
In many cases, what turns out is that the poster does not reveal full information about all circumstances in their actual relevant history, except after followup questions, which is a much different situation than lying. And having said that, some apparently are able to get around the 5/24 rule, in select circumstances, for CSP or Freedom. As a general rule, an on-line app has an easy denial for non-cobranded Chase cards as "too many new accounts" if more than 5 credit cards in the last 24 months.
No, Jonfi... I havent called. The boards keep saying not to call. I dont want to draw any unnecessary attention to my application. I keep calling the automated system every few days and I am still getting the "30 day" message. So that's a good sign... I'm just gonna let it ride... its been 2 weeks today since I apped.

I'm 90% certain if that's still the message, you're just waiting on a letter that is going to instruct you to phone their verification department. There is no harm in calling them up directly, stating you applied for the card, and was wondering if they needed any additional information. Just don't call underwriting.
888-688-6708 - Chase Verification Dept - this has worked for me on three occassions (IHG, Disney, and Hyatt today)
@Anonymous wrote:Ahhh....well thats good to know...I didnt realize they did that on their cards that are not co-branded. I wonder if that is something that the companies they co-brand had put in thier contract?? any ideas ??
I'm guessing that Chase's partners won't be happy if Chase started to deny lots of people for some ridiculous reason they randomly created, and Chase doesn't want to lose them, unlike little people like us who Chase sees as endless supply of sheeples to make money off of, more or less.
Just back from vacation and received my denial letter from the Freedom card I apped for, the letter stated only one reson, bankruptcy (which was discharged 12/14). Since then I have been approved on my own for $300 Kohls $600 Credit One and 3k and 10k from Cap 1 and AU for Cap 1 for $2250 (account is 18 mos old). Should I recon this Chase denial and if so what number to call and what to say.
The only reason I went for this card is because I want relation with Chase as we have checking and savings with them and send about 7-8k a month through their bank.
Scores presently are Eq 651 TU 634 Ex 602 (602 was on the denial letter), also odd they pulled EX when many posts say they pull EQ and TU. Any insight would be appreciated.
