C'mon - they can list any reason for saying "no" - it's still gonna be "no". You don't like their reasons? Try some of the reasons I have seen:
There is a bank closer to your residence than us
Too many inquiries (one - theirs)
Too many open lines of credit and Too Few open lines of Credit at the same time.
Revolving debt too high (it was $0)
Too little revolving debt ($0)
Average Age of Accounts too short (over 10 years)
and you can also add others that, while I haven't seen yet, I suspect will become commonplace soon:
Incoming Tude
Outgoing Tide
Last Solar Eclipse too recent
I am currently at $3000 and last month when I heard they were raising the ceiling, I decided to hit the CLI button. I was denied and waited for the letter. The letter made it seem like they did a HP, which listed a credit score and the various (vague) reasons for denial similar to yours, but there was no HP on any of my reports so although it looks like a HP, in my case it was not. I would check your reports to make sure a HP was actually done. Let us know what you find out.

Ahaha very true never apped for Kohl's but I've also read they give all kinds of odd reasons for denial for many people with different credit profiles.
I've had them Since 2/16. I always get denied for a CLI when I request it. I've never had a HP though. I gave up on them. They have increased it on their own. $300 ---> $700--->$1500---$2500
I am thinking kohls is not using a fico score, but rather some vantage score. Perhaps check that further...
And truly, the hp sucks for that card, especially when they don't come through, and extra especially if they HP to calculate a vantage score. And fwiw, i don't carry a mortgage in the usual way, i use corporate debt, so it doesn't report in any way to my personal reports, so i also get that reason as number 1. I would really be poed if they hped me for the decline though. I think i would honestly close the card.
