My Macy's card is close to 7 months old, I started with a CLI of $500 and then increased to $8,000 last month. Would the upgrade pop-up offer return? I was spending perhaps $125 when I was asked. Is it a new credit application, or is it a soft pull upgrade? As Smarty showed, two cardss are possible- but would it be wise for me to grow my relationship with Citi beyond the 1 year mark?
Honestly, you only need one Macys card. Remember it WILL eat into your Citi overall credit exposure so it could potentially affect future legacy card limits.
I used to have a Macys card and every now and then I think about reapplying.
I just wonder of they are going to file BK anytime in th near future and my urge to reaapy vanishes

The woman then asks me if i'd like to upgrade my Plat Macy's store card to the Amex Macy's card... I gave her deer in the headlights eyes.. as I am 99% sure she couldn't of upgraded my card, that can only be done by Citi, when and if they're feeling generous. So, I asked.. is this a hard or soft inquiry? She didn't know what I was talking about, so I rephrased and asked if it would be a new credit application and she said yes. I thought.. I could only have 1 Macy's card... The Amex version has no appeal to me except the Amex logo.. I get better cashback with other cards.
What exactly was this cashier trying to do? I noticed on her POS screen, she was able to see how much i've spent using my Macy's card and it even broke it down into a graph of which department I spend the most money in. That was lowkey creepy. What else can they see? My credit limit?
You can have both the store card and the amex version.
25k each for $10 worth of purchases
. Who needs Syncrany

Are you sure on this point? Legacy and Retail cobrands are two separate divisions

It amazes me how little cashiers know about the cards that the various stores offer. With my employer, we go through a rigorous yearly training from First BankCard to make sure that we stay up to date with what we can and cannot say to customers so that we aren't held liable.
And wow, that is kind of creepy that they have access to that information. Big Brother is watching!

Yes, it doesnt matter . Ive received notice of max Citi exposure and been 8nformed by CSR, which i know is grain of salt. Put it this way .....i have a bigger limit on my Macys Amex than i made and my Legacy cards are always denied cli requests![]()
Alright, I went back today.. had the same lady.. It was definitely a new credit application, not an upgrade.
Hopefully Citi doesn't shut me down ![]()
It would have to be though wouldn't it? Because we're talking two different Lenders here, Citi and Amex. If it were the same Lender for both cards then it might have a chance at a simple SP upgrade, especially if Amex. That said, usually there is a HP involved in going from a Store card to a card with a logo that can be used everywhere. At least the ones I've seen.
Considering you username I wouldn't have expected a minor thing like a HP to stand in your way of an approval. lol
