Weird discover pending approval

I currently have a $10500 discover it card. I applied for a new card and they said they will approve the new card with $1000 if I DECREASE MY $10500 down to $1000. **bleep**?.. Did anyone else have this happen before?

O.o wow thats quite strange. I could see if they wanted to take $1000 from your current card to open a new one but this is something else.
Are you sure they said decrease it down to $1000? If so again, wow.

Called in twice and had both reps say the same thing..

Sorry to hear it :/ I guess they have a right to offer whatever terms they choose but this is crazy. Never heard of it happening before today.

Sounds strange for sure, but then again I don't think they typically allow you to have two of the same card anymore.

Yeah I want two discover cards, but I don't know if losing $8500 credit line is worth it
