I have a Wells Fargo Microcenter card which is only at $5K. I only use it because I shop there a lot and like the 5% at the register discount the card provides. I always use the 5% and not the 6 month 0% and PIF right away so I don't technically need a CLI. But I could sometimes see myself going over the 5K limit on one shopping trip. I see on the forums that WF is almost always a SP for CLI but when I called and talked to a rep (Very heavy accent) he said it would HAVE to be a HP for any CLI request...
Is he wrong or is there a difference between regular cards and retail cards?

I got an increase yesterday. It was a soft pull. You have to call in to request and you can tell them you want an increase but not badly enough to have a hard pull done. I've successfully made 4 requests and each time when I said that they said they do a soft pull and see if you qualify with that and if you don't they'll offer you the option to proceed to a hard pull or not. They have always been super nice to me and I love my Propel card.
Wells Fargo does both and you have to specify you are checking to see if you have a SP CLI available. The CSR might not be knowledgable, so be prepared to call later. If retail cards are to same, they will want an income breakdown by source. Even with regular cards, I have had serveral reps wrongly tell me it had to be a HP.
I called WF yesterday, and the CSR told me it's a hard pull. I said I wanted a soft pull but she could not find anywhere in their system to offer a CLI with a soft pull.
