Re: Wells Fargo Propel Approval Odds? Thinking if I should go for it before it *may* get discontinue

I would say it's worth a try.  Just wait for the letter to address the items listed (unless you're already aware why the application was not approved).  I'm guessing due to the age of your profile, so that might be a bit of a challenge to overcome.

Just be sure to ask the HP question to the agent beforehand so that way you're aware.  There's always that risk, but it's one of those nothing ventured nothing gained situations.  Since it's currently a rumor, as far as the Propel being discontinued, at least you've explored each available avenue.

yea I'm  planning on waiting, seeing what the reason is, and then calling. I just didn't know if the longer  I waited the higher chance that they'd do a HP. I know after 30 days it definitely will be but it should only take a week or so to get the letter.

But sounds good, so if I ask and they say yes then I can request them not to do it and I'll just take the L, or if they do say no but then it ends up being a HP I can dispute that etc etc?

If it ends up being another HP, no you can't dispute it as you are asking them for credit in a recon

ETA if you are told it won't be another HP and it is you can nicely ask wells to recode it to a SP

Definitely recommended to do within the 30-day period, otherwise that window of opportunity closes out.

The agent you speak with will not be the UW, so you can decide up to that point when speaking with them whether to proceed or not since it'll be referred to that separate team for the re-review. Unfortunately, there's no guarantees if it ends up being another HP, it's the chance one takes with a reconsideration sometimes (depending on the lender).

How do you decide if asking for recon is worth it if there's a chance you will get another HP? I do like the card, I like the flat 3x points on pretty broad categories. In hindsight, probably should have gone for propel before BoA but win some lost most, I didn't think I wouldn't have the propel be an option in the future at that point, haha. I decided to go for the BoA for the smaller required spend for the SUB, but because of how I'm doing my meal plan this semester, I can totally just pre-pay it with  the propel to reach it.

But anyway, I'm not sure how well you know WF and their cards, but do you think getting this card is worth another possible HP and even still having a chance for getting denied again after it?

Just got letter, denied for oldest bank card not open enough, but I have about ~2 years, how long does wells fargo like to see? Is this something I can easy turn with recon?

It's probably unlikely @Anonymous.  They're basically saying there isn't sufficient established or solid history to consider the approval at this time.  Something like their entry level Platinum would likely pass the sniff test with your profile (maybe), but the Propel, not so much.

There really isn't a set number of months (or years) per se, your oldest might be 2 years, but the rest of your profile is much younger in their eyes, I'd let those age for a while before trying again.  We still don't know if the Propel rumor will come to fruition so hopefully it won't be discontinued anytime soon.

Yea, but they specifically said "oldest card" if they were talking about all of my cards as a whole, you'd think they just said established credit or something more broad than that. Idk, sometimes I wish these things were more specific, I get the reasoning as to why they aren't, but like I said, if they are referring to all of my cards, confused as to why they would use "oldest" but oh well, win some lose most. I'd rather it be a more cut and dry answer like if I had a late payment (I don't) but just something more specific
