What are my approval chances for AMEX BCP?

EX: 711 TU: 719 EX: 725.  Only have QS1 currently (8months and $2500cl) .  Just looking for input on whether I should apply or no...?  Thanks.

Welcome to MYFICO... Amex likes thin files and as long as you report is clean, you have a strong chance of getting approved.  I'd give it a shot.  Let us know results when you do apply..

Thin describes my credit profile well.  I have no collections, etc etc on my report, though.  Just an overall lack of credit...

Amex will take you in so give it a shot if you really want it..  Another good card to add into your mix with a thin file like yours is Discover.. Great cash back card and seems to be giving out CLI's every month now...

Since you have a thin file, check the Chase pre-equal also and see if you are pre-approved for the Freedom.  Another card to add to your portfolio and build history with Chase.

Also, since you are now starting out plan accordingly and apply for cards you only need.  Be very strategic in your card selection..  For FICO scoring purposes, you need at least 3 cards.

So if the QS is your only card, you need 2 more....

I poked around on a few pre-qual's from chase, Amex and discover.  Chase and Amex popped up with nothing for me, but Discover instantly pinged me for the it card....maybe I'll go for that instead.

Are the pre-qualified virtually guarenteed? I got denied for a CSP about 6-7 weeks ago and really don't want another inquiry on there unless it comes to fruition...

No, Discover will pre-equal anything dead or alive.  Take that pre-approval with a grain of salt.  Test the Discover theory out.  Select randon 9 digit numbers as SSN and come up with a fake name.  Put it in and you will get your answer.

Here is what I will do in your shoes.  Although you are not seeing pre-equal for Amex, I'd go ahead and give it a shot.  Then cold app. for the Discover as they like thin files.

The CSP starts you at a limit of $5,000.  What was the reason given for the denial by Chase?  How many inquiries do you have on TU, EX, and EQ? And what cards have you applied for recently and being denied?  List them if you don't mind?

Lastly, are those your real FICOs or FAKOs?  Don't apply for anything until you answer these questions..
