I've been "playing around" with applications that don't require a hard inquiry. As it stands, Capital One has pre approved me for the Quicksilver and Savor for good credit and the Platinum Card. The Apple Card denied me for too many inquires. Chase, Citi, and Amex still won't pre approve me for anything. I did close my Discover account because there was not any long term plan for the card and it'll stay on my credit report for a while and as my credit profile builds. By the time it falls off of it, it'll virtually not have any impact. Starting around Feb/Mar I'll have like 3 inquires no longer impact my credit so that's when I'm planning on trying for the BILT Mastercard again.
BILT is worth holding out for as it's really one of the best no-AF cards there is. The points-for-rent feature makes it good enough by itself, but the card is also structured similar to the Chase Sapphire Preferred. 3x dining, 2x travel, decent degree of travel insurance (not as good as CSP but better than most), solid airline/hotel partners. The card itself is a thick metal tha feels about the same thickness and weight as the amex platinum. I'm trying not to get to used to having it around, though, as it's costing WF a ton.
Interesting thanks for the heads about WF losing money. Would BILT probably just find another issuer for their BILT card or would the card have an annual fee. And the reason why I chose the BILT card over the CSP is because I can't get approved for a $5K SCL but I probably can for a $1,000 SCL
Bilt is issued as a World Elite MasterCard - I'm not sure they can issue cards as low as $1k on that platform. I think it's maybe $5k min too, but I haven't looked into it. All of the WEMC's I have seem to have been started at either 10k or 15k. I would just table it for now until you get your limits higher like the other guys said.
I know I'm a little late to the party but, I got approved by chase for an IHG World Elite Master Card for a $2,000 limiit. I'm not sure what the floor is or if cobranded cards break the rules but, in my case it was less than the $5k I hear floating around all the time.
Two years ago I was approved for a wemc at $500 credit limit.
